Purpose of the role
The Public Affairs Consultant is tasked with helping keep across the key political and regulatory agendas in the Asia-Pacific region that may impact the brand. This role will also help with coming up with strategic recommendations and risk mitigation strategies to help protect the brand and its ability to do business.
Key responsibilities and tasks
Monitoring of New and Emerging Regulatory Risks
- Maintain ongoing monitoring and research into new and emerging regulatory risks across the region including industry trends
- Make use of key subscriptions, such as FIA, to ensure up-to-date knowledge sharing
- Make recommendations on other platforms or groups that could support with keeping the client updated
- Ensure a keen focus on issues surrounding Health & Nutrition, Tax & Trade, Sustainability and Corporate Communications
Prepare Monthly Reports
- Provide concise and relevant reporting to the region on a monthly basis, including presenting notes
- Develop and adapt templates as required, suggesting tweaks to format
- Present reports to the Regional Director for discussion and analysis
Identify Risk Mitigation Strategies
- Use analysis and research to produce strategies to mitigate and map risk for the brand

Goal of Position
Strengthening the presence of Schaeffler Group in Asia/Pacific and actively contributing to an open dialogue between business and politics. In this challenging position, you have the opportunity to truly pioneer and help shape the Schaeffler Group’s presence in Asia/Pacific around a broad and forward-looking spectrum of topics.
In close coordination with the local leadership and the global Public Affairs department, you will expand political relations in the region Asia/Pacific, develop public affairs strategies, and represent the company to institutions and associations across Asia/Pacific. Areas of focus include energy and climate protection, digitalization and new mobility, as well as competition and trade.
Your Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a person for the newly created position of “Head of Government Relations & Public Affairs Asia Pacific”, someone with long-standing political experience in the Asian context, a keen sense for issues and trends, and with excellent communication skills.
Establishment and management of Schaeffler Group's political representation in Asia/Pacific
Building and expanding a political network with institutions, embassies, committees, associations, and business representatives
Monitoring and evaluating political developments, creating impact analyses, company positions, and recommendations for action
Active participation in association activities, committees, and working groups, regular attendance at conferences, seminars, and other events
Initiation and implementation of Schaeffler Group's Public Affairs strategies in Asia/Pacific, in close coordination with the global Public Affairs department and the local leadership
Conceptualizing and implementing political events on current regulatory topics affecting the supplier industry
Preparing and attending political appointments, background discussions, and debates
Work with Schaeffler's Asia/Pacific executive team to develop strategy for government relations in the region
Develop and maintain relationship to effectively lobby with governments on pressing legislative issues regarding Schaeffler
Develop and oversee implementation of corporate strategies around government relations and trade organizations
Develop, review and implement region wide government affairs policies and procedures
Act as a consultative partner to the business in developing government affairs strategies
Measure and analyze project results
Serve as the government relations liaison for our Executive team in Asia Pacific and the respective countries
Your Qualifications
BS degree in Business, Government Policy or a related field with an MBA
10 to 12 years of professional experience in Government Affairs including 6 to 8 years in leadership role
Experience successfully implementing Communication strategy or strategic vision
Experience in exercising judgment to manage performance and prioritize opportunities
Ability to lead and direct the work of others
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to operate as an effective tactical and well as strategic thinker
Outstanding leadership skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Give best-in-class corporate reputation advice and strategic direction for clients
Lead fully integrated campaigns that blend earned, social, and digital to tell compelling stories
Oversee day-to-day account work and see campaigns through from end to end for global and regional corporate and technology brands
Fuse corporate reputation with digital, creative, and technology communications solutions, working with our kick-ass creatives and strategists to deliver effective campaigns and results
Understand communications (and we mean everything from traditional PR to social media, influencer work, thought leadership, technology communications, you name it) inside and out, as you’ll play a key role in new business
Organically grow existing clients significantly by tapping into new relationships and new services
Lead and mentor junior team members, creating a collaborative and inclusive team culture that puts people first
What you’ll bring:
5-6 years of experience in corporate communications and/or public affairs, with a strong foundation in technology and B2B storytelling
Proven experience running integrated communications programmes that span media relations, content, digital, and executive visibility
Strong understanding of the tech landscape and the ability to make it relevant for broader audiences
Established relationships with local and regional business and tech media
A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trust with clients, teammates, and stakeholders alike
Strong project management skills, with experience handling budgets, timelines, and KPIs
