Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communications Leadership: Assist in developing and overseeing the implementation of the company's overall communications strategy, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives and brand vision. You will help shape communication priorities and campaigns that drive brand awareness and consumer engagement across all our lifestyle and retail offerings.
- Campaign Oversight & Execution: Lead the planning and execution of major PR and outreach campaigns for our clients. Provide ongoing strategic direction and advice to the communications team on media relations, events, and content strategy to maximise impact. This includes coordinating cross-team efforts to ensure unified messaging and successful, integrated campaigns.
- Media Relations & Reputation Management: Serve as a key media contact and spokesperson for the company. Cultivate high-level relationships with key media outlets and industry influencers. Oversee media outreach to ensure it's high-quality and targeted to the right audiences, and manage press inquiries, interviews, and public statements. You will also take the lead in managing reputational risks such as addressing any negative coverage with tact and effective communication to protect our and clients' image.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage the day-to-day operations of the communications team (including the PR/Communications Manager and any executives/interns). Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance on crafting news releases, blog posts, social media content, and other communications materials. You will supervise projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met, and advise on resource allocation and budgets for various communications projects.
- Content Quality & Consistency: Oversee the creation of all communications content, from press releases and media kits to executive speeches and internal briefings. Edit and approve key messaging to ensure consistency in tone and alignment with our brand values. Maintain high standards of writing and storytelling across the team's output, and implement review processes (style guides, approvals) for quality control.
- Senior Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a communications advisor to senior leadership. You will participate in high-level meetings and contribute insights on messaging and public perception on behalf of the communications team. Work closely with company directors and other departments to provide counsel on communications matters (e.g. during product launches, crises, or major marketing initiatives), ensuring our external communications support overall company goals.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Establish KPIs for communications efforts and oversee the tracking of media coverage, campaign performance, social media engagement, and other relevant metrics. Manage the production of regular reports on communications outcomes (e.g. monthly media coverage reports, social media analytics, campaign ROI). Use insights from these reports to refine strategies and demonstrate the value of communications initiatives to the company's success.
- Growth & Business Development: Own a revenue target with leadership; forecast weekly and keep a healthy pipeline. Lead credentials and pitches; shape proposals, scopes, and fees with clear value and solid margins. Grow existing accounts through timely upsell/cross-sell ideas that solve real client needs. Market presence: drive thought leadership (panels, bylines, case studies) that generates inbound interest.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies or related field. A Master's degree is a plus but not required.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in public relations or communications, with at least a few years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience crafting strategy and managing campaigns in the lifestyle, consumer, or retail sector is highly advantageous.
- Leadership & Strategy Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communication strategies at a high level. Strong leadership and team management skills – you have experience guiding teams, providing mentorship, and coordinating cross-functional efforts. Able to see the on a macro level and align communication initiatives with business strategy.
- Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic and adaptable individual to support media communications in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The role involves cross-functional responsibilities aimed at driving impactful media coverage and strengthening our public image.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communications
- Develop communication strategies and media plans based on defined objectives
- Recommend suitable content, channels (e.g. mainstream, online, social media), and timelines for communication activities
2. Content Development
- Draft media releases, statements, and other press materials
- Craft clear and effective key messages
- Ability to translate complex or technical information into simple, media-friendly language is a plus
3. Media Relations
- Pitch stories and secure media opportunities
- Respond to media queries and arrange interviews
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and editors
4. Media Monitoring & Analysis
- Track media coverage and ensure accuracy in reporting
- Analyzecoverage to generate insights and recommend improvements to management
5. Crisis Communications
- Support issue and crisis management efforts
- Develop and execute communication strategies during crises
6. Administrative and Event Support
- Compile daily media headlines
- Maintain communications calendars
- Coordinate internal crisis communications training and media events
- Manage vendors and budgets, as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in media communications
- Experience in crisis communication planning is an advantage
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and current trends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build and manage media relationships
- Analytical,detail-oriented, and able to develop effective communications strategies
- Proactive, resourceful, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Strong team player with good interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
