Role Overview:

Are you a seasoned communications leader ready to make a big impact in the lifestyle and retail scene? We are looking for a Communications Deputy Director to drive our communication strategy and lead our PR/communications team to new heights. In this high-visibility role, you will work closely with our senior management to shape and execute communication plans that amplify our fashion, food, and retail mall brands. Based in Singapore with a flexible hybrid schedule (3 days WFH, 2 days on-site), you'll enjoy a dynamic environment where creativity meets strategy. As the second-in-command in our communications department, you'll be the strategic storyteller and guardian of our brand image, ensuring our messaging is powerful, consistent, and aligned with business goals. If you have the vision of a strategist and the hands-on attitude of a publicist (a hybrid of both skill sets), along with substantial experience in communications, we invite you to lead our team and make an impact

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications Leadership: Assist in developing and overseeing the implementation of the company's overall communications strategy, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives and brand vision. You will help shape communication priorities and campaigns that drive brand awareness and consumer engagement across all our lifestyle and retail offerings.
  • Campaign Oversight & Execution: Lead the planning and execution of major PR and outreach campaigns for our clients. Provide ongoing strategic direction and advice to the communications team on media relations, events, and content strategy to maximise impact. This includes coordinating cross-team efforts to ensure unified messaging and successful, integrated campaigns.
  • Media Relations & Reputation Management: Serve as a key media contact and spokesperson for the company. Cultivate high-level relationships with key media outlets and industry influencers. Oversee media outreach to ensure it's high-quality and targeted to the right audiences, and manage press inquiries, interviews, and public statements. You will also take the lead in managing reputational risks such as addressing any negative coverage with tact and effective communication to protect our and clients' image.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage the day-to-day operations of the communications team (including the PR/Communications Manager and any executives/interns). Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance on crafting news releases, blog posts, social media content, and other communications materials. You will supervise projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met, and advise on resource allocation and budgets for various communications projects.
  • Content Quality & Consistency: Oversee the creation of all communications content, from press releases and media kits to executive speeches and internal briefings. Edit and approve key messaging to ensure consistency in tone and alignment with our brand values. Maintain high standards of writing and storytelling across the team's output, and implement review processes (style guides, approvals) for quality control.
  • Senior Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a communications advisor to senior leadership. You will participate in high-level meetings and contribute insights on messaging and public perception on behalf of the communications team. Work closely with company directors and other departments to provide counsel on communications matters (e.g. during product launches, crises, or major marketing initiatives), ensuring our external communications support overall company goals.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Establish KPIs for communications efforts and oversee the tracking of media coverage, campaign performance, social media engagement, and other relevant metrics. Manage the production of regular reports on communications outcomes (e.g. monthly media coverage reports, social media analytics, campaign ROI). Use insights from these reports to refine strategies and demonstrate the value of communications initiatives to the company's success.
  • Growth & Business Development: Own a revenue target with leadership; forecast weekly and keep a healthy pipeline. Lead credentials and pitches; shape proposals, scopes, and fees with clear value and solid margins. Grow existing accounts through timely upsell/cross-sell ideas that solve real client needs. Market presence: drive thought leadership (panels, bylines, case studies) that generates inbound interest.

Able to see the on a macro level and align communication initiatives with business strategy.

  • Media and Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of media relations and the Singapore media landscape. Established network or ability to build one with senior journalists and media personalities. Familiarity with current trends in PR, digital marketing, and consumer engagement (especially in lifestyle and retail domains). Experience handling crisis communication and media issues with discretion and tact.
  • Analytical & Results-Driven: Data-savvy approach to communications, and able to interpret coverage metrics, digital analytics, and market research to inform decision-making. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure (e.g., during a PR crisis or tight deadline).
  • Adaptability & Vision: A creative thinker who can innovate in communications techniques (from storytelling formats to new channels) while also maintaining a consistent brand voice. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, hybrid work setting, adapting to new tools and changing consumer trends. High level of professionalism, with the ability to handle sensitive information and high-profile campaigns with confidence.

What We Offer:

You will have the chance to shape the public image and messaging of a company that influences lifestyle trends. Your ideas will directly impact brand perception and you'll have the autonomy to introduce initiatives that push creative boundaries.
  • Dynamic Work Culture: Join a passionate team that thrives on innovation and collaboration. We foster a supportive culture where the Communications Deputy Director works hand-in-hand with other senior leaders and the team to achieve excellence. Expect a work environment that values creativity, open communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Hybrid Work Benefits: We provide a flexible hybrid work arrangement – strike a balance between focused remote work and in-person team synergy (3 days from home, 2 days in office). We also offer modern office facilities on office days and the tech tools you need to collaborate effectively from anywhere.
  • Competitive Compensation: We offer a market-competitive salary package for this senior role. This comes along with performance bonuses and benefits, as we believe in rewarding the talent and leadership you bring to the table.

We want you to succeed and will provide the resources and support to help you excel.

Step into a role where your strategic vision and communication prowess can truly shine. As our Communications Deputy Director, you will not only lead a team and shape our brand's narrative, you'll be part of driving the success of campaigns that excite and inspire consumers.
