Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry in Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is looking for qualified candidates who are highly motivated and seeking a challenging and fulfilling career as a Geriatric Psychiatrist. The incumbent is expected to provide geriatric and general psychiatry services (i.e. outpatient clinics, inpatient ward management, and on-call psychiatric consultation duties). As SGH is an academic medical centre, candidates may also be involved in research and teaching.

The job requires the candidate to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with cognitive and geriatric mental health issues (including but not limited to dementia, mild cognitive impairment, geriatric mood and anxiety disorders, and delirium). The candidate is expected to have experience in acute psychiatric care, be able to supervise junior doctors, and work with allied health professionals in a multidisciplinary geriatric psychiatry service.

Job Requirements
  1. Basic medical degree with relevant postgraduate qualifications recognized by the Singapore Medical Council (e.g., MRCPsych and FRANZCP)
  2. Completed specialty training (i.e., obtained CCT or equivalent), and is eligible for accreditation as a Psychiatry Specialist in Singapore
  3. At least 2 to 3 years post-specialist registration experience as a Geriatric Psychiatrist in providing clinical care for patients with cognitive and geriatric mental health issues.

Collaboration and Communication:

Qualifications:
