We are seeking a skilled Chemistry Lab Analyst to join our team.
Job Responsibilities:- The successful candidate will perform various analytical tests and ensure that all incoming samples are tested and completed on time using the appropriate test methods and good laboratory practices, along with the proper reporting and maintenance of records.
- The ideal candidate will maintain an in-depth understanding of statistics and analytical techniques.
- This role requires the ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- The chosen candidate will uphold the scientific integrity and professional reputation of both themselves and of the laboratory, exercising professional judgement and seeking advice from senior staff with complex issues.
- The selected candidate will document, revise and assess the analytical methods used in the laboratory in consultation with the Team Leader or Operations Manager.
- This position involves ensuring the implementation and maintenance of the laboratory management system to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
- The successful candidate will notify the laboratory supervisor or Team Leader of any out-of-spec or erroneous results, retests or other issues or problems with samples and analyses for prompt actions.
- This role requires the ability to report customer complaints or concerns to the Team Leader or Operations Manager promptly. The candidate will assist in investigating to determine the root cause and ensure effective corrective actions and improvements are identified and implemented.
- The chosen candidate will review and confirm the accuracy and integrity of tests before reporting results on LIMS.
- This position requires the ability to sign off reports as an approved SAC signatory for the appropriate discipline where applicable.
- The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory inventory of consumables and chemicals and updating as needed.
- This role involves participating in health and safety continuous improvement initiatives. The candidate will report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences. They will ensure safe work practices are followed and proactively promote safe behavior and injury prevention.
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is required.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting is preferred but entry-level candidates may be considered for junior roles.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices or ISO 17025 standards is necessary.
- Prior experience using laboratory instruments e.g. HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, ICP, etc. is strongly preferred.
