About the role
The Technology Development department comprises of diverse groups of curious, world class engineering specialists. We are experts in our fields, and we ensure Dyson products are on the edge of what’s possible. The department encompasses specialist groups across different disciplines – Product Performance, Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, Materials. This role resides within the Product Performance group, which provides the technical analysis of hair appliance product performance such as quantifying and optimising how well the product dries and styles hair.
Identify key performance drivers, design and analyze experiments, and use modeling tools (e.g., scripting, Excel, Minitab) to generate, assess, and optimize predictive models.
Develop efficient test plans and methodologies that reflect real customer experiences and ensure performance targets are met.
Evaluate experimental and analytical data to provide technically rigorous recommendations, including proposing design mitigations and optimizations.
Formulate clear problem statements, characterize and communicate risks, and provide balanced recommendations on complex system interactions.
Collaborate effectively within project teams, clearly communicate findings to stakeholders, and maintain thorough documentation for future reference.
Guide, influence, and support junior team members while fostering a strong work ethic and logical approach.
Seek improvement opportunities by challenging the status quo, developing new tools or methods, and driving performance and reliability enhancements.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or related field, with ideally 5+ years’ experience in product design and development (lesser experience considered for exceptional candidates).
Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, measurement and statistical analysis; proficiency in Minitab, MATLAB, Excel, or similar tools.
Familiarity with CAD/CAE applications and experience in statistical modeling (e.g., multiple regression) preferred.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and coach less experienced engineers.
Skilled at conveying ideas clearly to various audiences and able to persuade and influence within project teams.
Effective at collaborating and managing interactions with diverse internal stakeholders.

Experience launching products globally and core product marketing skills in product positioning, messaging, naming and GTM planning.
Ability to manage multiple products and markets and have a good sense of prioritization to drive the highest impact in the role (partnered with product management and/or engineering to represent market requirements).

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Be the go-to person for our business partners, building strong relationships to help the succeed.
  • Research and analyze market trends to predict sales and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Lead the product lifecycle from development to launch, making sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Determine pricing that makes sense and helps us sell more products.
  • Execute strategies that drive us towards our goals and keep us on track.
  • Come up with creative marketing ideas that get people excited about our products, while staying current with ecommerce and online trends.

Requirements:

  • A diploma or 3 years of relevant experience in tech retail or consumer goods.
  • Expertise in product strategy development and management techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date with technology standards, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills to build strong relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
