The NPME ((New Product Manufacturing Engineer) is responsible for commercialization of newly designed products and features, taking them from initial designs to volume manufacturing operations. The daily tasks include review, evaluation, and modification of engineering designs to facilitate manufacturability at the supplier level and in Applied Materials manufacturing operations. Engineering change order creation is part of the role, providing design enhancements and kit structure to enable manufacturing. The NPME uses modeling and drafting software routinely in the course of their role, principally Unigraphics/NX. They also use Teamcenter to access designs at all stages in the new product development process. A knowledge of supplier and internal manufacturing processes and the ability to engage with suppliers and manufacturing to resolve issues is an added qualification for the NPME role.
Responsibilities:
- Interfaces with Engineering functions to coordinate the release of New Products or/and product improvements. Owns Module/Product on PLC/CIP Program
- Launches, releases, approves, and implements engineering change orders as required to support design engineering and floor for new/existing products. Owns Single Master BOM (SMBOM) release to support phase exits
- Ability to process Non-Standard Request (NSR) for Systems and NSO
- Supports New Product documentation by OMS Creation for NPI/CIP Builds
- Creates/maintains Master layout in UG/NX (Models of New Products)
- Performs Virtual Analysis / Virtual Build to proactively discover and prevent issues in build and assembly or at outsourced manufacturing sites

We are looking for a Director to join our Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD) team!
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to leading strategic packaging initiatives for high performance products that are critical to our future. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to build and implement strategies aligned to organizational and business objectives by delivering high performing and cost-effective advanced packaging solutions on time with highest quality and predictable reliability performance. You will carry out package development and product transfer in accordance with Technology Development business processes and develop our team’s capability by setting stretch goals and development objectives and conducting regular performance appraisals.
You will also supervise performance metrics to identify and implement continual improvement opportunities.
Other responsibilities include ensuring organizational compliance to company policies, departmental procedures, providing organizational leadership for building and implementing department strategies, processes, and policy through active participation in functional teams and projects, as well as mentoring other functional leaders through collaboration and the development of sustainable solutions.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Develop and Communicate Advanced Packaging Technology Development Strategy:
- Develop and communicate Advanced Packaging Technology Development strategic objectives
- Understand the impact and implications of APTD strategy to the overall company strategy and direction
- Technical Leadership:
- Set strategic and long-term technical objectives and insure they are aligned with department objectives
- Demonstrate understanding of technology complexity and effective technology decision making
- Provide technical leadership that may influence company direction
- Multi-functional Leadership:
- Represent APTD in providing cross department leadership in area of responsibility
- Work effectively with peers in other department to develop and drive multi-functional initiatives
- Impact and Execution:
- Apply knowledge to achieve quality improvements, cost control, and production efficiency
- Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of results
- Guide best utilization of resources to achieve end results
- Ensure critical results, milestones and goals are met by the team
- Provide recommendations to achieve organization objectives and align group to support department objectives.
- Make decisions that directly impact the achievement of work unit and sub-function objectives

Education and Experience:
- B.S/M.S./Ph.D. (or equivalent education) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other related technical fields
- 10 or more years of semiconductor process or equipment development experience, preferably in wafer bonding, plating, warpage control and packaging field
- Strong understanding of process flows, process interactions, and how process changes can affect yield, performance, and reliability
- Ability to use extensive technical knowledge to guide strategic directions
- Consistent track record to solve problems and address root causes
- Tenacity to work effectively under timelines and limited resources
- Validated ability to lead small and large teams, directly or indirectly, toward common goals
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, written and verbal to all levels of an organization
