External Managers Department
The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team as a Credit Portfolio Manager. The candidate will be part of the investment team which invests in funds run by external managers. Portfolio manager responsibilities include conducting manager selection and strategy due diligence, as well as structuring and monitoring fund investments.
While the role will be focused on credit funds that invest in structured credit and other securitized products strategies including US residential mortgage related strategies, the candidate will get exposure to other asset classes including equities, macro, and quant.
The role will be based in Singapore.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will be part of the GIC’s internal investment function where we award investment directives to external fund managers whose ability complements our own capabilities. We embrace an active investing approach for funds under external management to outperform public market benchmark indices.
What will you do as a Credit Portfolio Manager?
Sourcing and performing due diligence on prospective external fund managers, including meeting managers and their teams, conducting reference checks, performing qualitative manager and strategy analysis, and performing quantitative track record analysis
Monitoring existing investments, including having regular updates with managers, highlighting key matters to the Investment Committee, constantly re-evaluating original investment thesis, and making timely recommendations
As part of the credit team, evaluating potential investments and co-investments in funds by performing quantitative and qualitative analyses on individual fund managers and a portfolio of managers
Performing strategy level analysis, including periodic research, portfolio risk analysis, and surfacing macro insights to the team and GIC at large
Underwriting and portfolio management of hedge funds and other alternative asset managers
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
At least 3 to 5 years of credit experience, preferably on the buy-side or sell-side
Previous training as a Credit analyst or Portfolio Manager or experience in an Investment Banking team would be preferred
Prior Fund or direct investing experience is an advantage but not mandatory
Strong financial modeling skills
Excellent analytical ability, strong writing and communication skill, high attention to detail
Be highly motivated, intellectually curious about markets and investing
An independent thinker who can articulate his/her views well, both in verbal and written form
While comfortable working independently, the candidate should also be a strong team player with ability to collaborate and work well in a team

As an Associate in the Product Development team, your team forms part of JPMorgan investment management business. You are responsible for the design, development and product life-cycle management of products in the Asia-Pacific region.
Job responsibilities
- Partner with internal stakeholders in ensuring a comprehensive suite of funds are made available to support wholesale and institutional businesses in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Singapore; driving and managing product development initiatives.
- Focus on legal offering documentation drafting and regulatory developments across the region.
- Be comfortable working across markets and time zones, liaising and facilitating documentation and product specification work across US, EMEA, and APAC, to ensure consistent and seamless execution of corporate actions and fund initiatives.
- Adopt firm-wide "best practices" in facilitating product governance processes. The individual will also be heavily involved in the preparation, review and approval of any product initiatives at local, regional and global committees. Responsible for the drafting and reviewing of committee papers, agendas and facilitating ongoing follow ups.
- Operate as a subject matter expert on all available products including new launches, changes to existing products or newly introduced product features, to support local and regional distribution efforts.
- Keep abreast of local regulatory and industry developments and upcoming changes to global product ranges, consequently assessing the impact to the local fund range(s).
- Support / Assist the regional Product Development team in identifying product gaps and opportunities, capitalizing on market and regulatory developments and trends and reviewing the commercial viability of the local product range(s).
- Participate actively and contribute to the adoption of technology and digital solutions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum 3 years of relevant product development, legal or middle office roles, specifically in the asset management industry,
- Bachelor Degree in finance/law/economics.
- Sound or in-depth working knowledge of Luxembourg SICAV products and the regulatory environment within the Asia Pacific ex Japan region.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex matters in a concise and meaningful way.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills; comfortable with working across geography, time zones and functions to effectively lead or contribute in large workgroup settings.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and dynamically shifting priorities, timelines, and demands.
- Experience of working in a fast paced, deadline driven environments.
- Proven ability in drafting fund offering documents and navigating local regulations.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience dealing with onshore and offshore funds and experience in multiple markets will be an advantage.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, CAIA.
- Fluent written and verbal Chinese or Korean will be an advantage to review documentation from clients in China and Korea.
