What you will be working on
Co-led by Sport Singapore, High Performance Sport Institute (HPSI) and Singapore Sports School, you will be part at the forefront of the journey to support the vision for the next bound of Singapore's High Performance Sport development to build new ecosystem capabilities and better integrate our policies and programmes to strengthen support for the ecosystem and our stakeholders.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of long-term strategy and policies that seek to directly impact Singapore's sporting trajectory by establishing robust systems that enable sustained international success while uniting the nation through sporting achievement.
Conduct scenario planning, horizon scanning, and predictive analysis initiatives to inform strategic decision-making, to build transformative systems and enhanced ecosystem capabilities, as well as to engender a future ready ecosystem;
Develop/ Review national policies, programmes and processes, with the aim of optimising government's investment and support for the ecosystem and stakeholders;
Establish holistic and systematic implementation and engagement plans to align and synthesise complex information from diverse stakeholders into coherent policies and processes.

The ideal candidate should possess:
- Demonstrated experience in policy development and writing within the Public Service, including experience in secretariat functions;

- Proven capability in developing evidence-based policies using both qualitative and quantitative data, with experience in translating strategies into operational plans;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly in both written and verbal forms;
- Ability to see the big picture and also a keen eye for detail.

Position Overview
Vantage Global Public Policy is looking for a highly-motivated and self-starting Public Policy APAC Intern to help drive departmental goals across several ongoing projects. In this internship program, you will have the opportunity to work with the Director, Public Policy, APAC, and others to assist in establishing Vantage's policy priorities, building relationships with key stakeholders across the region, engaging at the local, regional, and national levels and advocating for Vantage's position on a variety of issues, include ESG (e.g., energy efficiency, renewable energy), AI and cloud technology-related policy (e.g., cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data sovereignty), and trade issues. This internship program provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field and make meaningful contributions to the team's efforts.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in implementing the Vantage Global Public Policy Framework to achieve 2025 Corporate Goals in APAC.
- Support Public Policy with projects and assignments as needed, including researching relevant public policies, monitoring developments in public policy, engaging team members and stakeholders to determine company's priorities, positions, and risks.
- Engage with internal and external business partners to understand key issues, create opportunities to influence, and implement strategies to shape outcomes.
- Build and maintain timely and relevant content for our Knowledge Base, Legislative Information Management System, and Issues Tracker, including positions, public statements, official correspondence, and contact reports.
Duties
- Work with Director, Public Policy, APAC, Vice President, Public Policy, Global and other team members to ensure accurate and timely tracking of current and emerging public policy issues in the APAC region relevant to the data center sector and Vantage's business strategies.
- Draft memoranda on key public policy issues affecting Vantage; prepare slide decks and other materials for internal and external meetings as needed.
- Attend internal and external meetings as directed on behalf of the Public Policy team and provide reports to relevant team members.
- Promote Vantage's commitment to sustainability, local economic impact, diversity and inclusivity; engage in the community supporting Vantage's role as a good corporate citizen.
- Assist in onboarding third-party vendors for Public Policy programs.
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate from a degree programme in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, International Affairs, Economics, Law, Sustainability, or a related field. Availability for full-time or part-time internship for at least 6 months (outside of university term time).
- Skilled at communications, organization, adaptability, problem-solving, and self-management.
- Knowledge of public policy, including the legislative process and rulemaking.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Strong experience with energy, technology, and economics issues.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint.
- Previous internship experience in public policy, public affairs, or government relations is an advantage

The position requires extensive experience in the regulatory and public policy environment within Asia-Pacific and aims to promote understanding of global standards and regulatory harmonisation among key stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Expand regional public policy engagement through strategic engagements with stakeholders
- Regulatory Monitoring – identify and track legislative and regulatory developments at national and regional level in Asia-Pacific that influence the implementation of GS1 global public policy priorities and recommend a course of action
- Monitor and evaluate collaboration and project opportunities with government, intergovernmental organisations and industry groups/trade associations
- Proactively assess draft legislation and provide advice to Global public policy team on further action
- Assist in the coordination of policy positions with GS1 member organisations in Asia-Pacific to execute the Global Public Policy directions
- Consult with senior management of GS1 Member Organisations to further the strategic global public policy priorities
- Secure GS1 participation in key conferences, meetings, forums, represent GS1 there and ensure opportunities for global public policy leadership to participate
- Oversee the day-to-day activities related Public Policy projects
Education/experience
- Bachelor's level degree (required) in relevant field, such as public affairs, political science, international relations or business with more than 6 to 8 years of work experience
- Sector-specific experience in food, retail, e-commerce, supply chain logistics, sustainability or working in government and a thorough understanding of how trade associations and chambers of commerce function.
- Experience from APEC, ASEAN or regional/global intergovernmental organisations or government agencies and functioning in key Asian Pacific markets (e.g., experience from Australia, Japan, India, China, Indonesia) is highly appreciated.
Skills
- Must be fluent in English, oral and written; knowledge of major Asian language is beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – confident presenter and public speaker.
- Proven organisational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong collaborative skills, an international mindset and willingness to proactively involve stakeholders from a wide range of countries and support multicultural working groups.
- Comfortable learning about new technology and explaining it in a simple way for external audiences such as industry and government.
- Willingness to be part of a globally distributed team which will meet virtually more than in person.
- Excellent time management with flexibility to cater to commitments across multiple time zones.
- Highly motivated and detail oriented, with the proven ability to follow through on short and long-term work streams.
- Ability to create strong and trusted relationships with a globally distributed team in a multi-cultural environment.
