The Opportunity

We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join us as Podiatrist Assistants. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both clinical and administrative work, values patient interaction, and is committed to delivering an excellent standard of care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

• Assist podiatrists during consultations, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring equipment is clean, sanitised, and ready for use.
• Record patient histories, vital signs, and examination findings accurately.
• Assist with orthotic fittings, wound care, and routine foot treatments.
• Provide support to patients, including elderly individuals, before, during, and after treatments.
• Maintain strict hygiene and infection control protocols, including operation of sterilisation equipment.

Administrative & Patient Care

• Greet and assist patients, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
• Schedule and manage appointments.
• Handle patient enquiries, billing, invoicing, and payments.
• Maintain patient files and databases in accordance with confidentiality requirements.
• Assist with stock-taking and inventory control.

Requirements

• Higher Nitec, Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
• Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise, and maintain attention to detail.
• Professional, empathetic, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
• Work Days: 5 days/week (Monday -Saturday)
• Working Hours: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

• Designing general protocols and determining treatment plans appropriate for patient care in a specialist outpatient setting.

• Provision of appropriate Podiatry educational materials to patients or for public awareness.

• Liaise closely with Medical professionals to achieve coordinated patient care. These disciplines include, but are not limited to Family Medicine, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Dermatology, and Rheumatology.

• Conduct clinical team meetings and attend multi-disciplinary meetings to enhance patient care.

• Offer talks or seminars to other healthcare professionals on the Podiatric methods to elevating foot health.

• Involvement in foot health promotion projects and activities including community awareness events.

• Continuing education achieved by attending relevant healthcare lectures and courses, seminars and workshops.

• Placing patient care first and foremost over oneself, as the guiding principle & virtue of a healthcare professional.

Institution: National University Polyclinics
You will be responsible for the following:
Screen for risk factors in the diabetic foot and determine the corresponding risk level.
Recognise diabetic foot conditions and refer patients to the doctor/podiatrist for management.
Deliver education on diabetic foot care to patients and/or caregivers.
Provide clear documentation on the results of the diabetic foot screening.
Adhere to legal, ethical, professional, departmental and organisational policies such as good infection control practices.
Take part in activities that promote awareness of Podiatry.
Requirements:
Higher Nitec with GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ Level Credits in English, Mathematics and Science.
WSQ Higher Certificate in Therapy Services will be an advantage.
5.5 days workweek. Willing to travel to different polyclinics and work on Saturdays.
Service orientated with good listening and interpersonal skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and another language (Chinese, Malay, or Tamil).
Ability to lift reasonable loads.
Good time management.
Able to work well both independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Job Description:

• Orientate patients to assigned bed / facilities
• Answer patients' calls and relay patients' requests to department-in charge
• Attend to patients' basic needs e.g. toilet baths, bed sponging, serving of meals and drinks, feeding
• Conduct bedpan / urinal rounds; change patients' diapers
• Walk patients to toilet and assist them in toilets
• Monitor restless patients and ensure that they are safe and comfortable
