About The Role

- A law degree from a recognized university.
- At least 8 years PQE, of which at least 4 were spent in practice/at a law firm.
- Experience in IT/technology and cybersecurity issues essential. In-house experience at a regulated financial institution in Singapore ideal but optional.
- Familiar with local laws/regulations applicable to the financial/insurance industry in Singapore, in particular those on technology risk, cybersecurity, cyber-hygiene, data protection and outsourcing guidelines and applicable best practices.
- Admitted to the Singapore Bar, and of good standing. Candidates who are not Singapore-qualified but with common law qualifications and strong familiarity with Singapore regulatory/legal requirements on cybersecurity and data privacy will be considered.

Your Role

Background / Qualifications

- Expertise: Legal knowledge of Singapore and other ASEAN countries, with Korean legal knowledge a strong advantage.
- Experience: Direct negotiation experience in complex and large technology transactions is strongly desirable.
- A “can-do” attitude with the ability to lead cross-functional teams under pressure while balancing competing priorities and risks.
- Knowledge of cloud, collaboration, hybrid work, or software industries, as well as expertise in anti-trust, anti-corruption (e.g., FCPA), or public procurement laws.
- Familiarity with Splunk’s business, Cisco’s technologies, or channel/reseller-based selling models is desirable.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of any of these languages – Indonesian, Malay, Korean, or Mandarin Chinese – would be a strong plus.

- Provision of legal advice on distribution issues in connection with the firm’s South East Asian business (with a primary focus on Singapore).
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements with service providers, such as transfer agents and fund administrators.
- Advise on legal and regulatory issues relating to institutional funds and separate accounts and other matters like marketing of such funds in connection with the institutional business.
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on legal agreements including investment management agreements and advisory agreements.

Job Description
You will be responsible for the following:
Conduct legal research
Drafting legal contracts and negotiating the terms of the contract
Ensure regulatory compliance
Documenting SOPs and identification of gaps between SOPS
Ensuring best company practises and good corporate governance
Data Protection Officer
Incorporating companies in new markets and ensuring compliance with the local regulatory requirements thereafter
Merger and acquisition + performing due diligence
Liaising with regulatory authorities on new regulatory requirements
Various ad hoc tasks
RequirementsDegree in Law or equivalent
Proven experience as a legal counsel in a business/SME environment
Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
Excellent communication and analytical skills
