This project will focus on multi-agent exploration and navigation in unknown areas, where multiple autonomous robots (agents) are tasked with spreading over a given region to be explored, or to reach a given position and discover the world to do so as rapidly as possible. Throughout this work, we will assume that robots can communicate their observations (e.g., partial map of the environment) during search, via local or global communications, so they can update their representation of the domain online. These tasks will be approach using generative models (GM), e.g., diffusion models and/or matching flows, to allow agents to generate medium- to longer-term plans that allow them to better trade off exploration and exploitation in the long run.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Research Assistant or Intern to support a clinical trial evaluating novel food-based nutritional interventions. The opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in clinical nutrition, biomedical research or translational food science. You will be involved in material preparation, data collection, reporting, and participant coordination, as well as supporting in vitro digestion experimentsthat help explore the mechanisms behind the intervention. The role gives an introduction to how clinical trials are designed, conducted and monitored, while also allowing you to get laboratory experience. Full training and supervision will be provided. The internship start date is flexible based on the candidate's availability.

Time Commitment

This internship is for a minimum period of 3 months. You can either work full-time or part-time basis with a minimum of 16 hours per week. We require 1 intern. The internship is expected to begin in October 2025, with the exact timing to be agreed based on the candidate's availability.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, you will play a key role in research initiatives involving foundational LLMs. Your responsibilities include:

• Conducting research for and collaborating on funded research projects involving foundational LLMs, including identifying, evaluating, and developing relevant technologies and resources.

• Collecting, normalising, and creating datasets, as well as training LLMs.

• Analysing and interpreting LLM results, evaluating model performance and recommending methods for improvement.

• Collaborating with legal and computing researchers on interdisciplinary projects.

You are expected to be in residence for the duration of your appointment, in line with standard NUS annual leave provisions. Flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered, provided baseline on-site work requirements are met to ensure effective collaboration and team cohesion.

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Computational Linguistics, with a strong knowledge of statistics, machine learning and optimisation.

• Good to excellent command of English (oral and written), with additional language proficiency being an advantage.

• Familiarity with modern LLM architectures (transformer encoder, decoder and encoder-decoder models).

• Experience handling large datasets, with strong structured and unstructured database management skills.

• Knowledge of LLM evaluation methods, metrics, inference processes and deployment setups.

• Proficiency in Python, with additional skills in Regex, C++ and JavaScript a bonus.

• Proficiency with Python-based neural network frameworks, especially PyTorch, and training LLMs on parallelised Nvidia architectures.

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Assistant

We are looking for research assistants with a quantitative background for ongoing research in Public Health.

They will be working within the team under the Principal Investigator Assistant Professor Borame Dickens alongside multiple collaborators and experts.

Methods include agent based/individual based modelling, SEIR modelling, geospatial statistics, Bayesian statistics, burden mapping, measuring the impact of the environment on disease among others. The PI has projects in both infectious and chronic disease, measuring the impact of interventions.

Candidates need to be able to understand statistical modelling, have a mathematical background, and be fluent in R programming. We will also consider candidates who have extensive C++ or Python coding knowledge as these are transferrable to R.

The candidate will be working with the Principal Investigator(s) on the analysis of national health datasets, utilising an array of methods to infer statistical relationships and health outcomes. Further mathematical modelling will also be carried out when necessary involving diagnostic flows and where appropriate, disease spread and/or illness progression.

The Principal Investigator(s) is seeking for an independent worker who is well-organized, analytical and codes competently. They will however be receiving support from a team of mathematicians, epidemiologists and statisticians, and have a diverse portfolio of tasks. Under the team's guidance, they will be expected to co-lead their own publications.

We welcome academic creativity and will be highly supportive of candidates who wish to either pursue academia or desire for career progression provided they show self-motivation to showcase their problem-solving abilities.
