Clinical Education Specialist

The Clinical Education Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping the skills and knowledge of nursing students and newly hired nurses within our healthcare organization. This dynamic role involves creating, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive educational programs to ensure that all nursing staff meet the highest standards of care expected in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Education & Training:
    • Develop and implement tailored training programs for nursing students and new nurses, incorporating hands-on training sessions, simulations, and classroom lectures on various nursing topics.
    • Supervise and mentor nursing students during their clinical rotations, ensuring they gain practical experience and effectively apply theoretical knowledge.
    • Provide guidance and support to newly hired nurses during their orientation period, fostering a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Curriculum Development:
    • Collaborate with educational institutions and healthcare professionals to design and update nursing curricula, aligning training programs with the latest clinical practices, nursing standards, and regulations.
  • Clinical Competency Assessment:
    • Evaluate the clinical skills and competencies of nursing students and new nurses, providing constructive feedback and recommending additional training or support as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of student and staff performance, evaluations, and progress.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all educational activities comply with healthcare facility policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, driving quality improvement initiatives related to clinical education and patient care.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in nursing education and clinical instruction, attending relevant workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance teaching and clinical skills.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the nursing management team to identify training needs and develop strategies to address them, fostering a collaborative environment.
    • Liaise with external educational partners to coordinate clinical placements and educational programs, promoting partnerships and resource sharing.

We are seeking a seasoned and experienced professional to lead our nursing education initiatives.

  • Training Program Development: Design, implement and evaluate structured training programs in renal nursing, focusing on dialysis care, renal nutrition, fluid management, peritoneal and haemodialysis.
  • Clinical Learning Environment: Establish and maintain optimal clinical learning environments for nursing staff and students.
  • Preceptorship Schemes: Assess, plan, implement and evaluate preceptorship schemes to support the clinical development of new staff.
  • On-the-Job Training: Provide on-the-job training for new staff members and assist nurse managers in ensuring their competencies.
  • Training Coordination: Coordinate and organize training activities to strengthen unit-based generic and specialty clinical practices.
  • Course Development: Plan, implement and evaluate unit-based and discipline-based training courses for nursing staff.
