Role Overview
The Manager, Segment Profit Centre – Retail & Motor will lead the strategy, performance, and profitable growth of the Retail Personal Lines and Motor Insurance portfolios, including related group insurance products. This role will own the segment P&L, drive product innovation, manage underwriting performance, and collaborate with distribution, claims, and actuarial teams to ensure sustainable and competitive offerings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Segment & Product Ownership
You will be responsible for the full product lifecycle management and profitability of the following
segments:
Retail Personal Lines (excluding Motor):
- TravelEasy – Flagship travel insurance covering overseas medical, trip cancellations, COVID-19 coverage, baggage loss, and emergency assistance.
- Personal Accident Insurance – Plans such as PAEasy and AccidentGuard, offering accident, disability, and hospital income coverage.
- Home Insurance – HomePlus and HomeLite products, covering building, renovations, and contents against fire, theft, and water damage.
- Maid Insurance – MOM-compliant plans offering personal accident, medical, hospitalisation, and liability cover for domestic helpers.
Motor Insurance:
- MotorMax / MotorMax Plus – Comprehensive coverage with own damage, third-party liability, roadside assistance, and new-for-old replacement for new vehicles.
- Motor Add-ons – Excess waivers, courtesy car benefits, personal accident cover for drivers, and windscreen cover.

- Ensure consistent application of risk acceptance guidelines across all distribution channels.
3. Product & Proposition Development
- Lead product innovation, from market research, pricing, and design, to launch and enhancement.
- Develop propositions for emerging risks (e.g., EV adoption, digital nomad travel, personal cyber protection).
- Create bundled solutions (e.g., Travel + PA, Motor + PA) to meet evolving customer needs.
- Engage with tied agents, brokers, affinity partners, and digital platforms to customise offerings.
4. Profitability & Portfolio Management
- Own the P&L for Retail and Motor segments.
- Drive pricing strategies based on competitive benchmarks and claims performance.
- Monitor portfolio metrics including sales, retention, claims trends, and market feedback.
5. Training, Enablement & Governance
- Conduct product and underwriting training for sales teams, agents, and partners.
- Support marketing campaigns, digital content, and policy documentation as the product champion.
- Ensure compliance with MAS regulations, FIRMS, and internal policies.
