What you’ll be doing

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join the network security team to ensure that our infrastructure and networks are properly protected. They will design, coordinate and implement security controls, audit configurations, and design networks in a hybrid compute environment. A successful candidate will have an attention to detail, the ability to understand what impacts their changes have on the network and relevant associated services.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional security, technology, and trading teams to design and deploy innovative solutions that enhance both system integrity and trading performance.

Overview

SpeQtral is seeking a proactive and experienced Network Security Engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience to support SpeQtral’s Quantum Network programmes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures. Key Responsibilities
  • Quantum Programme Support:
    • Understand customers’ technical requirements to provide technical support for fibre QKD network deployment between sites.
    • Assist with the installation and configuration of fibre QKD systems and support
    • Conduct preventive maintenance and checks to QKD systems
    • Investigate first line support calls assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity issues for projects that had been set up.
    • Liaise with customers and principal on escalated incidents
    • Ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests.
    • Provide training to end users on QKD network operations
  • Network Security Design & Implementation:
    • Design, configure, and manage switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and other security tools
    • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect network integrity.
  • Vulnerability Management:
    • Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.
    • Be part of the cybersecurity team to remediate identified vulnerabilities and ensure secure configurations.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, policies, and security procedures.
  • Support company infrastructure:
    • Managing company networking, IT and AV hardware
    • Performing admin roles for company cloud and SaaS subscriptions.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • 2 to 5 years in network security, IT security, or a related field. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Education:
    • Dip/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Sound knowledge of network security technologies including switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM solutions.
    • Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.
    • Programming using JavaScript and working with open source platforms such as Grafana
    • Working with cloud platforms, including AWS and Microsoft 365
    • (Good to have) Working and configuring soft hypervisors such as Proxmox
    • (Good to have) Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) and penetration testing methodologies.
    • (Good to have) Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Certifications:

  • Deploy and support cybersecurity solutions, including implementation, upgrades, and configuration of enterprise security products.
  • Provide professional services by managing customer projects, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
  • Offer practical and effective solutions that align with customer requirements.
  • Conduct product training for customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Continuously upskill and obtain relevant technical certifications.
  • Share expertise and assist in building capabilities within support and maintenance teams.
  • Support sales and presales efforts with technical input, product clarification, and implementation insights.
What We’re Looking For

  • Able to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Qualifications: Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma / Degree in IT, IS, or Cybersecurity.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in IT or cybersecurity. (Fresh graduates may be considered for an Associate Engineer role.)
  • Technical knowledge in:
  • Keen interest in emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.
