Role Summary
The Academic Mentor supports the team in providing education consultation services for student placement in schools globally. Most students are within the age of 9 to 13 years old, with some in the slightly younger or more senior levels.
The role shall provide academic expertise aimed at improving standardised test scores and school entrance exams performance. The role is also responsible for producing materials to facilitate client communication, event marketing and project research on an assignment basis.
Key Responsibilities:
a) School Placement Services
- Identify students' academic needs by setting diagnostic assessment and analysing the result
- Propose targeted measures to address challenge areas and improve test scores prior to important exams
- Review students' work and provide timely feedback, following up with them and their parents where necessary
- Utilise education technology platforms to monitor student progress and assign relevant practice sets for students
- Prepare students for school interview by giving them speaking practice and drafting recommended responses
- Provide guidance in completing paperwork for application, such as personal statement and student portfolio
- Report any incidents or feedback from teachers, parents or students that require immediate attention to the team
b) Enrichment Programmes
- Involve in the planning of enrichment programmes including, but not limited to summer camp and meet-the-clients session

c) Administrative Support

Requirements:
1) Bachelor's degree in Education/Arts/Science; additional teaching qualification such as PGCE is preferred.

3) Familiar with standardised tests such as ISEB, CAT4, UKiset and CEPT for independent school placement.
4) Ability to establish rapport with students and experience in working with learners aged 9 to 13.
5) Effective communication and coordination skills with diverse stakeholders including parents, students, teachers and team members. Evidence of such experience in a similar role such as project management and customer service is preferred.
6) Familiar with using virtual communication platforms (e.g. Zoom, WeChat), education technology platforms (e.g. Atom Learning) as well as AI-enabled platforms (e.g. ChatGPT). An openness to learning and using emerging platforms is essential.

The successful incumbent will Assistant Director, Operations / Lead Reintegration Mentor in ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations at Selarang Halfway House (SHWH) or future new site at Cosford and is responsible for the safety and welfare of the residents and the overall security of the Halfway House premises. They will work closely with the SHWH Case Managers to aid residents with their reintegration back to society.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee security screening to ensure contrabands are not brought into the house.
Facilitate the daily operational routine of SHWH or future new site:
a) Ensure the day-to-day needs of the residents and operational requirements of the halfway house are being met.
b) Facilitate the process of residents checking in and out of the halfway house on a daily basis and provide daily updates on the headcount and other activities/incidents (if any) throughout the tour of duty. Any unusual movements should be highlighted and reported to the relevant parties.
c) To ensure that there is seamless transition during the handing and taking over of shift duties. The jobholder is also responsible in ensuring that all outstanding matters have been clearly communicated to the next duty personnel and are promptly followed up with.
d) Provide logistical support to residents during their stay in SHWH or future new site. To assist occasionally with carrying & moving of bulky/heavy items.
e) Conduct patrols and searches in the SHWH Living Units to ensure the safety of residents.
Work closely with Case Managers in the case management of residents, including monitoring and maintaining proper records on the progress, movement, and other relevant information pertaining to the residents.
Assist in handling any grievance procedure and carrying out preliminary investigation of incidents and/or disciplinary issues (when assigned).
Identify any defect(s) or work(s) to be carried out pertaining to the halfway house's estate management issues during daily tour of duty and to feedback to Singapore Prison Service Corporate Services Team for follow up.
Any Other Duties
To carry out any other duties as assigned by Assistant Director, Operations / Lead Reintegration Mentor

- Recognized Diploma in any discipline.
- Relevant experience in operations (especially in residential or secured settings), security or provost functions.
