The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Business Leader to oversee the sales and marketing functions within our Medical Surgical business and drive commercial execution across fast-growing emerging markets across Southeast Asia and India.
This role requires a strong background in the medical device or healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will be skilled at tailoring strategies to local market needs, building strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders, and driving rapid growth to ensure business success, while also navigating diverse regulatory frameworks to maintain competitiveness and effectively managing cross-functional teams. Business Management:
- Develop and implement bold business plans to achieve ambitious revenue and growth targets, focusing on accelerating the expansion of the Medical Surgical business in fast-growing emerging markets.
- In doing so, identify and capitalize on transformative business opportunities by crafting locally tailored strategies and tactics to drive rapid growth and capture market share in high-potential, underserved, and fast-expanding segments.
- Stay attuned to market dynamics and customer needs, identifying portfolio opportunities and developing strategies to address them. Revitalize the portfolio by transitioning from mature products to higher-value, clinically differentiated offerings where feasible, while simultaneously driving growth in the core portfolio, increasing volume, and ensuring competitive pricing strategies.
- Evaluate current channel strategies, partnership models, and structural frameworks, including the necessity of direct sales support, to enhance market coverage and accelerate growth. Implement new approaches that align with pricing objectives and maximize market potential.
- Champion the adoption of medical devices by collaborating closely with Market Access and Government Affairs, engaging governments, and partnering with healthcare providers to expand access, address pricing barriers, and drive market growth.
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with distribution partners, ensuring collaboration and alignment with business goals:
- Foster open communication and gain market insights through transparent account-level intelligence, including detailed data on product pricing, volumes, and sales.
- Develop actionable, territory-specific plans for distribution partners to execute, ensuring these plans align with overall business objectives.
- Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to enhance the sales capabilities and product knowledge of distribution partners.
- Regularly review partner performance and market contributions to identify improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with growth strategies.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing team, providing direction and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, excellence and compliance.
- Develop and enhance team skills relevant to growth opportunities and platforms, including clinical/scientific sales and marketing, market insights, bid and tender strategies, pricing strategies, channel marketing, and digital/eCommerce.
- Promote clear and effective communication and alignment within the team and with other functions to ensure cohesive operations.
- Offer coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to team members to support their growth and performance.
- Understand legal and business environment across multiple countries and ensure the company operates in compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
- Monitor the performance of the business and report to senior management, ensuring that key metrics and objectives are met.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of business experience in the healthcare industry, including more than 5 years of management and leadership experience.
- Required experience in MNC, with a proven track record of driving business expansion and capturing market share in fast-developing regions where demand for medical devices is increasing, but access to healthcare remains limited. Must also have experience managing and leading cross-country teams.
- Strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, able to navigate complex challenges with ease.
- Proficiency in communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, fostering strong and effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Change agent, able to deal confidently with ambiguity, motivate people through transformation and mobilize teams to action.
- Proficiency in English and preferably the local language of the designated country
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience in the medical surgical segment.
Work location: Singapore, or any country of Vietnam and Malaysia.
- Hybrid Eligible
Travel: May include up to 40% domestic/international
