Materials Planner Job Description

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Materials Planner to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will manage order placement, processing and ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment. You will oversee demand and supply commitments, coordinate with internal teams and serve as the main point of contact for customers

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stakeholder Relations

  2. Coordinate and manage customer purchase order requirements, ensuring timely delivery of goods.

  3. Act as the main point of contact for customers, managing their accounts, driving shipment/revenue, and reviewing raw material requirements and forecasts.
  4. Ensure customer orders align with inventory availability and production schedules, maintaining strong communication with both internal teams and customer

  5. Demand & Supply Management

  6. Plan, manage, and oversee demand and supply commitments, ensuring timely product availability while minimising holding costs.

  7. Analyse customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels to determine raw material and component needs for production.
  8. Work with procurement team to ensure the timely delivery of materials and components, adjusting plans as necessary to meet production and customer requirements.
  9. Monitor stock levels and optimise inventory management to reduce costs and avoid delays.

  10. Delivery Plan Scheduling

  11. Develop and maintain detailed delivery plan schedules with production that align with customer demand and production capacity.

  12. Coordinate with other departments, including production, quality, and engineering, to ensure smooth workflow and that customer requirements are met without disruption.
  13. Monitor production status and promptly resolve challenges, making adjustments to schedules as needed to fulfill customer commitments on time.

  14. Database Maintenance and Process Improvement

  15. Implement and support new processes to meet the evolving needs of the business.

  16. Assist in managing product configurations and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the Fulfillment database.
  17. Prepare and analyse reports to support business and department requirements, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  18. Identify opportunities for enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, and improving order fulfillment accuracy.
  19. Maintaining accurate records, documentation, organising and managing documents in the shared drive.

  20. General Responsibilities

  • Monitor and mitigate economic stock to reduce overall project economic stock for reallocation for future orders or claiming liability from customers.
  • Execute Project Closing once Sales Orders (S/O) have been maintained for Finance to begin accounting process.
  • Facilitate Return Material Authorization (RMA) orders from customer to address warranty claims or refurbished orders.
  • Release production orders in Baan to ensure on time completion of orders based on the planned start date in system.
  • Support and participate in company continuous improvement program to advise on areas for improvements within the scope of Plan to Deliver.

Qualification & Experiences:

  • Degree/ Diploma in Engineering/Supply Chain/Logistics Management or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 2 year of experience as controller in manufacturing industry or equivalent.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Advance Microsoft Excel functions
  • Good communication skills
