About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of design specifications based on customer requirements, organizational goals, and business strategies. They will conceptualize and develop solutions based on project requirements and company standards through the use of simulations/modelling to support design concept used.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing design specification sheets with relevant information related to the project and updating them as required.
• Carrying out detailed cycle time studies for individual modules to select the appropriate machine or module design.
• Developing 3D models of machines and/or modules assigned with optimized design for manufacturing, cost, quality, and safety.
• Initiating and carrying out internal design reviews to share and explain the completed modules with other departments.
• Revising designs and documents based on both internal and external reviews.
• Creating and updating flow charts for modules or entire machines.
• Creating part drawings and assembly drawings based on approved designs and obtaining approval from department managers.
• Creating Bill Of Materials (BOM) for modules assigned based on design schedules given.
• Sending out standard part lists for quotations based on BOM.
• Raising Purchase Requests (PRs) and getting department manager approval and sending to the Purchase department for negotiation and ordering.
• Promptly supporting any design issues discovered during fabrication and/or assembly stages.
• Making necessary modifications, updating designs, drawings, and getting approval from department managers.
• Releasing revised drawings to suppliers and internal assembly teams.
• Supporting machine assembly teams as needed, with setup and fine-tuning of machines.
• Carrying out all activities based on project schedules given.
• Maintaining quality standards while working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices, and upholding company policies, internal, customer standards for machine building and safety.
• Developing, training, and educating junior engineers, guiding technical direction, and acting as a technical liaison between customers.

• Lead and manage the entire engineering design lifecycle for offshore oil and gas development platforms, including conceptual, FEED, and detailed design phases.
• Ensure technical quality and compliance with international and regional standards and codes.

• Proven ability to lead complex engineering design projects from early concept through to execution
• In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and certification processes for offshore oil & gas in Qatar is a MUST
• Experience in managing design reviews and regulatory approvals in the Middle East region
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred
• Prior work experience on Qatar-based projects is an advantage
• Knowledge of Shell and Qatar Petroleum (QP) standards is a preferred
• Excellent command of English
• Familiarity with international standards and Middle East regional mechanical design codes.
