Job Description
- Responsible for planning the server onto racks, arranging the server mounting
- Maintain UNIX/Linux Operating System
- Install the operating systems for new mounted servers
- Reinstall the server operation systems, solving the abnormalities.
- Perform daily server maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and follow-up break-fix of the server and other hardware
- Maintain data on internal systems including asset management, ticketing, rack related data
- Work with remote vendors or other teams to solve hardware batch failures and problems
- Oncall on duty, responsible for dealing with the problems raised by the business owner side
- Collect and check online assets status or issues
- Erase drives or other configurations for retiring or relocating servers.
- Retrofitting or test feedback for tools/systems/platforms.
- Submit and track the part RMA or media destruction process
- Perform server lifecycle management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical engineering or any other relevant fields
- Knowledge of the interdependencies of server functions and technologies
- Understanding and running simple Shell/Bash scripts
- Work expereince with Linux system, able to locate hardware faults;
- Basic network knowledge concepts - MAC, Subnet, TCP/IP, with ability to perform general troubleshooting
- Knowledge of power out server communication methods, such as IPMI
- Able to work a fixed schedule on weekdays and weekends

Members of this group are hard-working Systems Engineers, Administrators and Programmers, tasked with maintaining and improving the platform that powers Jane Street's production trading systems.
