Job Description
This role reports to the General Manager and General Counsel.
You will provide strategic legal advice to senior management, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Lead a team of 1 legal counsel, and engage with external counsel on complex matters. Your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including sales, teaming, reseller, lease, service, and license contracts, both domestically and internationally.
Proactively advising on contractual claims and disputes.
Contributing to special projects such as investments, mergers & acquisitions, and the establishment of new overseas business units.
Conducting ad-hoc legal training.
Reviewing and drafting tender contractual documents.
The Successful Applicant
A Bachelor of Laws (Honors) degree from a recognized university.
Admission to the Singapore bar.
A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in cross-border corporate and commercial law.
Preferred experience in IP/technology and/or project-based work.
Proven ability to manage stakeholders and lead a team.
Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
Demonstrated capacity for independent work

Reporting to Head of Legal, this role is within the MUFG legal team which requires the provision of legal advice supporting the legal and regulatory needs of our growing global business at MUFG Investor Services.
Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities

· Assist in administering, monitoring and maintaining the company's IP/trademark portfolio in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring all records and databases are accurate, up-to-date, and secure.

· Coordinate with external legal counsel on trademark filings, renewals, oppositions, and other IP-related matters according to jurisdictional requirements.

· Conduct surveillance of trademark filings through global trademark databases, identify potential conflicts or infringements and prepare watch reports for management's assessment.

· Assist in preparation and drafting legal documents and agreements. Provide administrative support as required.

· Administer and maintain the legal documents repository system. Manage tracking, timelines, deadlines and reminder alerts for contract renewal to ensure compliance.

· At least 1-3 years of relevant experience in secretarial / IP management / legal support roles, either in-house (preferably in the consumer healthcare line, FMCG or related industry) or in a law firm.

· Knowledge of trademark related requirements in Asia Pacific / Middle East / US jurisdictions are helpful. Additional knowledge or experience in legal agreement / IP licensing is an advantage.

· Proficient in legal documentation, highly ethical, discreet, uphold confidentiality and integrity.

· Strong organizational / secretarial / administrative skills, meticulous and attentive to detail, with the ability to manage both structured legal processes and day-to-day admin responsibilities.

· Other core competencies i.e. good interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, time management and result-driven.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and related digital tools; familiarity with DocuSign is an advantage.

· Comfortable working independently and adapting quickly to established processes.

Overview
Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Work Location: Tanjong Pagar (walking distance from the MRT)
A rapidly growing Singapore-based enterprise with diverse business interests spanning commodity trading, industrial project development, and international investments.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and lead the Legal Department according to the company’s business growth and strategic needs.
Provide legal advice and support for corporate governance, M&A, commodity trading, and overseas industrial project development.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements in multiple languages, including English and Chinese, to meet business and regulatory requirements.
Manage relationships with external legal firms and oversee domestic and cross-border legal issues.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Support management on business-related legal strategies and other assigned legal matters.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in corporate legal affairs or private practice.
Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and international trade regulations; experience in M&A or engineering-related projects is an advantage.
Familiarity with the legal environment in Southeast Asia.
