- Sample Processing:
- Process a range of patient samples, including bone marrow, peripheral blood, and buccal swabs, with accuracy and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Prepare samples for downstream analyses such as genomics and proteomics studies to aid research into cancer biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
- Inventory Management:
- Organize and maintain a detailed inventory of patient samples, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and tracking.
- Document and record all sample processing details accurately to contribute to research data integrity.
- Animal Work Support:
- Assist in handling laboratory mice, including breeding, monitoring, and performing procedures such as blood collection and organ harvesting.
- Support researchers in setting up animal experiments that model cancer progression and response to treatments.
- Lab Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, following all safety protocols and biosafety guidelines.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to support sample processing and animal work.
- Team Collaboration:

- Minimum Diploma in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory and/or field programs necessary for the completion of projects typically under the direction of a Program Lead, or Basestock, Synthetics and Intermediate (BS&I) Tech Center Group Lead
What you will do

- Support the BS&I Tech Center mission to deliver unique technical service and support to zone business partners in alignment with priorities of Basestocks, Synthetics & Intermediate Technology
- Coordinate customer sample preparations, shipments to customer address and handling of paperwork in a timely and accurate manner under the direction of the BS&I Program Lead
- Conduct laboratory and/or field programs necessary for the completion of projects typically under the direction of the BS&I Tech Center Group Lead or in consultation with the Program Lead.
- A custodian of BS&I Tech Center controls documentation and work processes typically under the direction of the BS&I Tech Center Group Lead
- There may be areas of independent responsibility such as the operation, maintenance and quality control programs for test instruments. Maintain documentation of experimental results.
- Lead smaller technical support projects in their area of expertise, including planning their own work activities to meet defined project objectives and timetables.

- Organising ordering of equipment and maintaining adequate stocks of basic items.
- Keeping records of recipes, successful experiments, etc., for future use cross-indexed to each grade level.
- Preparing apparatus and reagents and worksheets in advance of classes, trialing and checking working of reactions, etc., before lessons.
- Ensuring laboratories are safe, hygienic, and secure.
- Checking gas and fire equipment regularly and keeping written record.
- Preparing and trying out experiments for practical examinations and being available to assist during such exams.
- Setting up and maintaining a spillages kit in each lab and a basic first aid kit in prep lab.
- Setting out and clearing up equipment promptly and safely before the start and upon completion of lessons.
- Cleaning equipment thoroughly, including washing glassware and checking its safe operation, organising maintenance and repair of equipment, and making sure spares are available (batteries, bulbs, etc.).
- Dating chemicals upon arrival and ensuring proper storage. Checking stock regularly both in labs and prep room and restocking and organising reorder as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Higher degree or recognized professional qualification (preferred).
- Evidence of continued relevant professional development.
- Experience in working in a laboratory setting (at least 2 years).
- Experience in an international school environment (preferred).
- Possess reasonable IT skills and knowledge, for example, Microsoft (MS) Applications such as Excel and Word.
- Inclusive, resilient, flexible, and adaptable.
- High standards and expectations.
- Communicate effectively in Standard English both orally and in writing.
