Other job duties include drawing blood from mostly paediatric patients (finger prick technique, training will be provided). If you are interested in working in a healthcare environment and have the following requirements, this is the job for you.
Requirements- GCE "N"/ "O" Level, NITEC in Biomedical Science / Nursing
- Phlebotomy skill is advantageous

To perform and interpret diagnostic procedures and undertake related laboratory activities in order to provide quality laboratory service to our customers, both internal and external.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
Participate in and, when necessary, supervise the reception of laboratory specimens and rejection of those that are unsuitable for analysis.
Operate the Laboratory Information System to perform functions such as order entry, result entry, result collation & certification and result query.
Perform all procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols.
Ensure that “critical values” are reported to appropriate personnel.
Resolve queries from customers.
Report adverse incidents to the supervisor.
Perform, record and interpret results of quality control procedures and take corrective action where indicated.
Undertake simple preventative maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and perform simple troubleshooting in the event of malfunction.
Comply with laboratory inventory management procedures.
Keep current with new instrumentation, techniques and procedures by attending/participating in appropriate workshops, seminars and in-service education classes.
Conduct in-service education and continuing education classes.
Assist with planning of staff rosters as required.
Perform shift duties as required.
Coach trainees and new staff in laboratory procedure.
Carry out the instruction(s) of senior staff with regard to work procedures and duties.
Conduct internal audits.
Comply with good laboratory practice as set out by the Laboratory Accreditation Programme of the College of American Pathologists and Singapore regulatory agencies such as the Medical Audit & Accreditation Unit.
Ensure compliance with all requirements of the Laboratory Safety Manual.
Comply with DLM Workplace Etiquette in line with NUHS Core Values.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (20%)
Assist with the evaluation of new laboratory test methodologies.
Undertake back-up procedures in the event of emergencies such as loss of electrical power and information system crash.
Participate in basic laboratory administrative work such as filling, processing of deliveries orders and invoices.
Assist with drafting and updating of laboratory protocols when required.
Participate and contribute to project teams as required.
Cover duties of Senior Medical Technologist when required.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

BSc or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science
Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)
Preferably with 1-2 years Clinical Laboratory experience and good or excellent performance.
