Overview

Join to apply for the Lab Supervisor, Chemistry role at West Pharmaceutical Services .

In this role, you will manage the Singapore Plant Support laboratory operation, lead and develop the Plant Support laboratory team and contribute to global laboratory initiatives and activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee routine and non-routine chemical tests of in-process products, finished goods, raw materials.
  • Ensure adequacy of laboratory support systems such as equipment, consumables, peripherals, sterilization, reagent preparation, accessories and manpower.
  • Develop and implement the local laboratory strategy (laboratory resource, laboratory budget and Capex plan), in accordance with the global site lab strategy and local site strategy, based on local and global sample volume demand forecast.
  • Set up chemical test equipment/methods whenever required.
  • Perform test method validation/inter-lab round robins, and act as subject matter expert or liaison with other sites.
  • Provide technical support in the form of chemical investigations of test method, product, facilities, critical systems to facilitate timely resolution of OOS, deviations, non-conformances, specification review, etc.
  • Represent Chemical laboratory as regulatory/customer auditee and perform audits from Chemical aspects.
  • Write/review/implement procedures/protocols/studies relating to chemical tests.
  • Recruit and ensure proper training of all Plant Support laboratory staff.
  • Participate and support the local site management and global lab activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement for laboratory processes with regards to efficiency, compliance, and safety.
  • Quality: ensure Good Manufacturing/Laboratory Practices are in place, keep documents up-to-date with proper records, ensure GMP compliance for the laboratory, and advance data integrity practices.
  • SOP: be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy related to the position.
  • Safety: adhere to safety policy, ensure personnel wear appropriate PPE and follow safety rules.
  • Lean: support Lean Sigma Programs and activities, lead lean initiatives in the laboratory and support lean initiatives in the plant.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical or chemical industry or equivalent
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with effective time management; adapt to changing priorities with minimal assistance.
  • Communicate technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences (written and verbal).
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a global team and contribute to global projects.
  • Proficient use of MS Office; familiarity with Minitab, SAP and Master Control (desirable).
  • Basic knowledge in Project Management to collaborate with the global PM organization.
  • Self-reliant, diligent, flexible with a global role's time requirements.
  • Clear communication in English (written and verbal).
  • Background in medical device or pharmaceutical industry; knowledge of lean manufacturing and operational excellence concepts.
  • Comply with safety and quality policies at all times.

You will be responsible for directing a core team of scientists, conducting specialized research, and supporting the Principal Scientific Officer (Virology) for the virology section of the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) Research Laboratory.
You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
What you will be working on:
You will be designing and conducting virology research that drives public health policy decisions, develop and implement new (or improved) cell culture-based systems and assays for viruses of public health importance. You will also manage and participate in data analysis and interpretation of scientific results for the virology team, assist in preparation of research reports, presentations, manuscripts, and grants, and communicate and coordinate with collaborators.

Train and supervise laboratory staff of virology section.
Assist with project management.
Participate in collaborations with national and international public health partners.
Job Requirements:
At least 5 years of relevant experience in fields such as virology, microbiology, biological sciences or related field.
Familiarity to develop and implement cell-culture based virus assays for public health needs.
Experience in analysing and reporting research results and outcomes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including for research reports, presentations, manuscripts and grants.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
BSL-3 experience or willingness to be trained to work with infectious virus in a BSL-3 facility (preferred but not required).
As part of the shortlisting process for this role, candidates may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teams of Business Analyst and Data Analyst in conducting comprehensive analyses of banking data, including customer transactions, product performance, customer behaviour, market trends, etc.
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to optimize new product creation, customer acquisition, customer retention (anti-attrition), and cross-selling opportunities within banking portfolio.
  • Collaborate with business units and senior leadership to identify key performance metrics, KPIs, and benchmarks to track and measure business performance.
  • Conduct hands-on and utilize statistical techniques, predictive modelling, machine learning etc, to forecast business trends (including funding and lending), assess risk such as credit risk, and support decision-making processes.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for analysis purposes.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on data insights to enhance product offerings, pricing strategies, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay attuned on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape affecting the banking sector in relevant countries, to inform data analysis and strategic initiatives.
  • Adopt data visualization and present findings and recommendations to senior executives and stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner and influence strategic decisions.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Min. 8 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related roles within the banking industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for analyzing large datasets and creating insightful visualizations.
  • Proven track record of delivering actionable insights and recommendations through data analysis to drive business growth and operational efficiency in banking.
  • Deep understanding of retail banking products, services, customer lifecycle, and regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and practices, ensuring compliance and data integrity in analytical projects.
  • Previous experience in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across different departments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data analysis into clear and concise business implications.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and advanced analytics (e.g., clustering, regression, decision trees) applied to banking data, is a plus.
