The Laboratory Support Officers (LSOs) will assist in day-to-day laboratory operations, focusing on cleaning, preparation of solutions, equipment operation, and general housekeeping. Candidates must pass assessments and in-house training to ensure competence in core tasks.
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning and Washing Duties
- Wash and clean laboratory glassware and apparatus manually or using machines
- Soak and wash glassware according to designated room protocols
- Clean glassware/apparatus used for cigarette testing (e.g., ashtrays, cartridges, holders)
- Use diluted acids for cleaning purposes
- Clean laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, sonicators, and fume cupboards
- Prepare and refill cleaning solutions and solvents as per lab requirements
- Safely decant solvents (~25kg) into secondary containers
- Prepare and neutralise bleach solutions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Operate basic lab equipment such as glassware washers, autoclaves, ovens, and ultrapure water systems
- Prepare consumables and materials for autoclaving and other lab processes
- Assist in preparing materials and containers for casework
- Refill laboratory consumables such as pipette tips and gloves
- Clean and tidy cupboards, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers
- Sweep and mop floors regularly
- Clear general, chemical, biohazard, and cytotoxic waste bins
- Sort and manage bulk and heavy laboratory consumables
- Perform basic administrative duties such as temperature monitoring, report dispatch, document handling, and data entry
- Must score at least 12 out of 18 on the pre-deployment assessment during the interview
- Must pass in-house training and competency test in washing and cleaning laboratory glassware and apparatus
- Physically able to handle moderate lifting (e.g., solvent containers around 25kg)
- Comfortable working in laboratory environments across different locations in Singapore
