The Consumer Chemicals Technology Centre (CCTC) is a technology innovation centre under the Department for Technology, Innovation and Enterprise (TIE) at Singapore Polytechnic (SP). CCTC supports industry transformation in the beauty and personal care sector through research, formulation development, capability building, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Research Scientists in the design, planning, and execution of experiments and formulation development for client-based projects.
• Monitor and document ongoing laboratory tests and experiments, reporting results and observations accurately.
• Compile experimental data and prepare technical documentation, reports, and records.
• Support the drafting and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to laboratory activities.
• Maintain laboratory records, manage chemical and consumable inventory, and ensure the cleanliness and organisation of formulation and testing spaces.
• Assist with the calibration, upkeep, and routine maintenance of lab equipment.

Requirements

• Related discipline in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science
• Prior experience in laboratory work or formulation development is an advantage.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques, good documentation practices, and chemical safety procedures.
• Meticulous, organised, and proactive with strong attention to detail.
• Able to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure specimen identification, processing and storage of test specimens are in consistent with good laboratory practices

2. Ensure all test results provided for clinicians are accurate and reliable

3. Maintain stock of laboratory supplies

4. Perform housekeeping in laboratory

5. Perform routine testing on laboratory instruments

6. Process laboratory specimens for test and storage

7. Transport specimens to and from laboratory for processing

8. Perform other functions as delegated by supervisor and/or lead laboratory

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for conducting of laboratory tests and samples and quality inspections assigned to them by the Supervisor.
They are expected to be knowledgeable on all equipment operating procedures as well as all quality control procedures and competent on the use of laboratory equipment.
Other responsibilities include:
• Raw material process and finished product quality control analysis
• Advance maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of assigned laboratory equipment
• Maintenance of chemicals and consumables inventory, preparation and standardization of chemical reagents and waste management.

• Diploma in Chemical Process Technology or chemistry related field.
