The Centre for Science of Urban Nature (CSUN), part of the National Parks Board, drives application focused research to support Singapore's vision of a City in Nature. What you will be working on:
As a member of CSUN's Nature & People Interactions research team, you will be working on the following:

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across NParks, universities, government agencies, and industry partners to deliver impactful and policy-relevant research.

• Produce and present findings through geospatial visualisations, technical reports, publications, policy briefs, and stakeholder presentations.

What we are looking for:

• Masters or PhD in a field related to Sociology, Psychology, Human Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Policy

• Experience with geospatial analysis tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial statistics is advantageous but not required.

• Proven skills in research design, statistical analysis, and qualitative/quantitative methodologies.

• Experience with data visualisation and mapping for research communication.

(What the role is)

We are looking for a researcher/senior researcher to work on the following:

Research projects seeking to improve tree structural stability in urban environments, including the development of new technologies and methodologies to assess defects in tree trunks, tree root parameters in constrained urban spaces and tree root anchorage strength, as well as wind load modelling and measurement for trees. Key roles for the projects above will include project management, field and laboratory testing, project coordination and contributions to reports and scientific publications.

(What you will be working on)

  • Coordination between research stakeholders and greenery asset managers to perform large scale-field work (e.g. LiDAR scanning, root excavations and static load testing etc.).

  • Data collection and evaluation of research outcomes.
  • Project administration (e.g., claims) and ad-hoc duties
  • Contributions to reports and scientific publications.

(What we are looking for)

  • Master's degree in tree biomechanics, civil/environmental engineering, forestry, arboriculture, ecology, plant physiology, or related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in one or more scientific computing language (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) or experience in numerical modelling will be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Team player with the ability to work with other research teams and key stakeholders in government, industry, and academia.
  • Relevant research and work (project management and administration) experience will be an advantage.

Our research topics spans image and video editing and generation, 3D editing, generation, and reconstruction, multi-modal generation, and other relevant topics in computer vision and generative AI. We advance the frontier through seminal research and work closely with internal partners to deliver impactful products.

Role Overview:

We are seeking Applied Researchers with relevant experience in image and video generation to join our Pixocial Labs.

Ideal candidates are highly self-motivated to advance the state-of-the-art in computer vision and generative AI.

Through collaboration, we aim to make significant product impacts and conduct seminal research.

This is an on-site role based in Bellevue, WA. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Key Responsibilities:

- Research and develop state-of-the-art image and video generation models within specific domains

- Collaborate internally and externally to conduct seminal research to advance the frontier

- Serve as a mentor to teammates when necessary to collectively cultivate a strong technical team

Basic Qualifications:

• Industrial research experience, either as a full-time employee or intern, with relevant projects in computer vision, computer graphics, or NLP.

• For US Based Candidates: Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in computer vision, computer graphics, NLP, or related areas.

• Interested in and thoughtful about product impacts of AI technology

• Solid engineering skills to implement ideas programmatically, from research prototypes to product deliverables.

• Strong problem solving skills to compare alternative potential solutions and access technical tradeoffs, thereby determining a path forward.

• Strong communication skills, to effectively understand complex ideas and convey them clearly to diverse audiences.

• Strong research record with first-authored publications at top-tier conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, and SIGGRAPH.

• 2+ years of work experience in a relevant industry or university.
