Your Role

  • Analyse treaty terms and product features in collaboration with actuarial and accounting teams to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation onto the KTM
  • Lead the onboarding of new treaties into KTM, ensuring accurate mappings, data consistency, and validation of results
  • Maintain high data quality by performing comprehensive checks, cleaning, and reconciliations, supporting in-force portfolio management and pricing analysis
  • Design and maintain dashboards on Excel and Power BI, to visualize, monitor, and analyse client data for business decision-making
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses, including premium reconciliations, claims investigations, and preparation of datasets for experience studies and management reporting

Part of the Knowledge team, the Biometric Risk Modelling chapter focuses on biometric risks. Chapter core members goals are to contribute to key projects, train, share knowledge and know-how with chapter members, promote knowledge both internally and externally, and finally, develop knowledge via high level internships and academic partnerships.

The Biometric Risk Modelling core members analyse biometric risks with the objective of improving the expertise of teams on this topic and of participating in the growth and profitability of the SCOR group. With this in mind, the team analyses general statistical or insurance data and develops the scientific methods and tools necessary to estimate these risks. More generally, you'll contribute to animating the community by sharing knowledge on biometric risk related topics.

Internship description

This internship in the Biometric Risk Modelling chapter of SCOR Global Life will give you the opportunity to be involved in actuarial duties with a strong focus on tools for deriving actuarial asumptions and projections of the underlying morbidity (e.g. cancer morbidity) for life and health insurance products.

As the scope of the team is world-wide, you will be working on many different countries with a strong focus on Asia Pacific.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Research Intern will have the opportunity to work with experienced actuaries at SCOR Global Life and will be responsible for

  • Parametric and non-parametric modelling of morbidity assumptions
  • Adapting or developing models based on available tools for mortality and morbidity estimation
  • Interpretation and analysis of available claims experience and population data and calibrating analytical models to these data
  • Developing cloud-based tools for automating analysis process

These opportunities will provide you with a very good start for the development of your analytic skillsets and into the actuarial modelling and data analysis for life and health insurance products. Experience:

Report the EV financials with actuarial models and assumptions in accordance with Group Embedded Value Manual (GEM).

Support forecasts of financials for business planning along with supporting analyses.

Produce group reports and liaise with group counterparts as required.

Undertake special valuation projects by request.

About this job
Lead APAC Pricing and support business on profitability analysis.
Key responsibilities
Price reinsurance business, providing transparent technical insight into the business
Participate in account discussions with actuaries, underwriters and others take holders
Provide subject matter expert and functional expertise and ensure that pricing reflects all relevant information
Prioritizing and ensuring delivery of final product within the specified timeframes
Utilization of PartnerRe actuarial models and understanding of underlying actuarial theory
Lead or co-lead market analysis and Business Review that will support Partner Re portfolio optimization
Provide clear insights to reserving team
Lead or co-lead variety of project teams (model development, annual parameter studies, ad hoc request, etc.)
Qualifications
Technical skills/competencies:
Languages : Fluent in English, Asian language is a big plus, Knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
Programming Skills : Experience in R, Python, SQL is appreciated.
Mathematical & Statistical Knowledge : Understanding of actuarial pricing theory, reinsurance structures, market conditions, and client motivations.
System Navigation : Ability to learn and navigate existing systems to achieve business objectives efficiently.
Problem-Solving : Identifies problems and applies critical thinking to develop solutions.
Rating Techniques : Mastery of standard rating techniques, developing aggregate loss distributions, and computing economic value of treaty features.
Analytical Perspective : Ability to view topics or situations from both macro and micro perspectives.

Work experience
Minimum 6 years on Non Life Reinsurance Pricing
Education
Actuarial or data analyst diploma or a master of Mathematics or Science.
