The incumbent shall be responsible to lead the facilitation, implementation and evaluation of hospital wide Infection Prevention Program with the aim to provide a safe environment to prevent and control infection.
He/she shall work closely and report all Infection Prevention matters to the Infection Prevention Chair who has the relevant expertise in advising and implementing the various components required in running a successful Infection Prevention programme.
He/she shall also provide leadership and guidance to the Infection Prevention Team to carry out the various activities required to facilitate the roles and responsibilities as set out by the Infection Prevention Committee.
Job Responsibilities:
- Setting direction and guidelines for the hospital infection prevention and control program and policies.
- Maintain a system of monitoring infections among patients and staff.
- Promote and enforce preventive measures and programs to minimize infection hazards.
- Supervise and advise on the hospital environmental sanitation control.
- Review and recommend standards for hospital sanitation, medical asepsis, isolation techniques, personal protective equipment (PPE) use and disposal of biological wastes.
- Assist in developing employee health programs in relation to infectious diseases.
- Assist in training needs, evaluation and training of staff on infection prevention and control protocols and practices.
- Proactively identify, manage, monitor and escalate risk using a risk register.
- Update the Infection Prevention Programme and the projects to be developed/undertaken.
- Ensure inputs on work performance and project completion is discussed adequately so that Infection Prevention nurses may be appraised fairly for job recognition and promotion.
- Provide updates/clarifications as deemed necessary by senior leaders at various nursing forums in order to educate and garner support for Infection Prevention initiatives.
- Provide feedback on administrative issues that may hamper the functioning of the Infection Prevention Team.
- Provide a conducive and wholesome environment within which to nurture the Infection Prevention team towards a vision of excellence in Infection Prevention.
Job Requirements:
- Registered with SNB.
- Degree in Nursing or its equivalent.
- Advanced Diploma in Nursing or equivalent is preferred.
- Valid BCLS certificate.
- Registered Nurse with at least 2 years' experience as NC in a ward setting.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills and work attitude.
- Able to exert positive influence in leading, communicating and educating health care workers towards realising the goals and aspirations of the Infection Control programme.

- Develop and review policies, guidelines, and standards for IPC practices across healthcare, community and non-healthcare settings.
- Strengthen IPC capabilities beyond healthcare institutions to ensure that community facilities are ready and resilient for future pandemics.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including healthcare institutions, community organisations, regulatory bodies, and professional associations, to drive IPC efforts.

- Support the Deputy Director in strategic planning and coordination across national IPC projects and working groups.

- Minimally tertiary qualifications from recognised discipline, preferably in nursing, medical, pharmacy and other healthcare fields
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in IPC, project management, stakeholder engagement. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in drafting documents and reports will be considered a significant advantage for this role.
