What You Will Do:

• Provide support to the Company’s business in Singapore and overseas offices in the areas of international trademark filing, trademark portfolio management, copyright maintenance, and IP-related consultancy.
• Manage international trademark application, including conducting trademark clearance, communicating regularly with internal clients and overseas developers to provide the best practices for trademark filing strategies, and supervising the application, office actions, oppositions on an international basis.
• Be responsible for international trademark portfolio management, including file management and optimization, supervising trademark monitoring, oppositions and cancellations, and providing services for internal request for trademark certificates.
• Manage copyright registration when requested, support business team’s other IP-related legal request, including font, domain names, etc., and provide opinions to minimize potential IP risks.
• Collaborate with legal team on issues related to IP compliance and enforcement support.
• Provide opinions for license and trademark-related agreement.
• Work on other tasks as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

• Graduate of a recognized law school with a degree or concentration on intellectual property.
• Strong background in trademark filing and management, particularly with US trademark management experience.
• 3-5 years of related experience in the gaming and/or tech industry, preferably a multinational corporation or a law firm with an international practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in the English language.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and is able to communicate complex information in an accessible way.

Requirements

• Proficient in PC skills, esp. in Microsoft Office and CRM software

• Managing client's Trademark portfolio;
• Filing, prosecuting and maintaining trademark applications up to grant;
• Coordinating trademark filings in Asian countries, e.g. Singapore, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, etc.
• Advising on strategies, courses of action and costs to clients;
• Reviewing Examination reports and drafting response to Office Actions;
• Conducting trademark searches and providing opinion to clients

• A degree in Law / Candidates of the Certificate of Intellectual Property (GCIP) course are encouraged to apply
• Proficiency with computers (should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Experience in Trademark work would be an advantage although not essential (Training will be provided)

We are currently looking to recruit skilled professionals to work with our team in reviewing trade mark applications and ensuring they meet legal requirements for registration.

As a trade mark examiner, you will be responsible for examining trade mark applications, conducting searches for conflicting marks, and reviewing descriptions of goods/services against international standards. You will also communicate with applicants or their representatives on examination outcomes and provide assistance to members of the public with trade mark related queries.

Apart from examination duties, you will take on administrative roles and responsibilities necessary for the proper functioning of our Registry of Trade Marks and contribute to meeting our organisational goals.

1. Decide if a potential trade mark distinctly identifies the trade origin of relevant goods/services applied for;
2. Conduct a search for conflicting trade marks that are already pre-existing on the national trade mark register; and
3. Review the description of goods/services on which the trade mark will be used, against international standards of classifying such goods/services.
