We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Investment Services Head.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
- Provide support to the local Chief Investment Officer on daily investment services activities. Collaborate with Investment, Risk, Finance and Actuarial teams etc to support different business initiatives
- Coordinate and manage different counter parties and vendors to deliver the strategic initiatives and daily activities
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders including the Chief Investment Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Investment team, internal/external fund managers, and other related functions within the bank
- Lead and work with the local Investment Service Team members to manage the Trade Management Life Cycle, daily business as usual (BAU) activities and issues escalation/resolution
- Investment including General Accounts assets, Derivatives, Mutual Funds, Private Equities Funds, Investment-linked insurance policies (ILPs) etc. such as investment purchases and disposal, corporate actions and all cash/treasury functions
- To meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on investments’ trade support, cash management, reconciliation and ILPs Transaction Life Cycle. Oversee the daily fund administration, valuation and custodians of investments, derivatives, ILPs etc
- Lead and drive business strategic initiatives and projects. Have the transformation mindset and think out of the box when digitizing, automating and re-engineering the different processes
- Ensure compliance to the investment mandate and other regulations, and the adoption and implementation of sound internal controls that are in line with HSBC standards
Qualifications
To be successful you will need
- University graduate above with knowledge in Investment Services of Insurance and asset management industry is a must
- Professional qualifications in Finance (Qualified Accountants) and Investment (CFA equivalent) are preferred
- Understanding in investment instruments (e.g. Fixed Income, Equities, Alternative Investments, Private Equities, Derivatives etc) and ILPs is a must
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to stakeholders, challenge existing practices to enhance the standards
- Big-picture thinking and vision. Strong team management experience
- Conflict resolution skills. Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously. Ability to manage highly stressful situation
- Strong Written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisation and planning skills and detailed-oriented

Identify challenges, opportunities, and gaps in the business processes and helps build technology strategy and roadmap to address them
Plan and manage the technical tasks and schedules to ensure delivery throughout the product lifecycle
Help define and shape the technology strategy, target architecture and technology roadmap
Be responsible for designing and delivering advanced solutions that incorporate a diverse range of technologies. You will use a combination of agile and planned approaches to provide innovative solutions that meet the specific needs of the private markets business
Actively keep up to date with new technologies and promote the adoption of new initiatives
Ensure security compliance by design and timely patching and upgrades
What makes you a successful candidate?
Minimum of 8 years professional experience in implementing large scale distributed applications
Experience in leading and inspiring cross-functional software development teams
Strong knowledge of DevOps Platform tooling and secure coding practices
Hands-on experience designing distributed systems and Cloud native applications
In-depth understanding of coding languages such as C#, Java
Would be beneficial to have a strong understanding with practical experience in the following areas:
One or more public cloud offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.), messaging infrastructure (Kafka, RabbitMQ), databases, etc.
Infrastructure as Code (Container Orchestration, Observability, CI/CD)
Have an understanding of the Financial Services sector
Understanding of open-source and AI/ML platforms and tools for feasibility of usage and integration from an infrastructure perspective is advantageous
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related discipline is advantageous

Investment Services Private Market
The Investment Services Private Market (ISPVM) Department provides strategic investment services and financial management for the Private Markets within the GIC group. Leveraging data and emerging technologies, the department oversees the development and implementation of business infrastructural plans and operating models to scale GIC’s alternative asset investments globally. This covers deal structuring, due diligence and closing, financial operations across GIC’s assets, as well as tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting.
Investment & Deal Execution
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our Investment Services Management Multi-Strategies team under the Investment & Deal Execution division, with a focus on innovation and strategy. This role will leverage AI and data to transform operating model, processes and platforms to enhance operational effectiveness, improve decision-making, and deliver innovative solutions that align with our strategic goals.
What will you do in Investment & Deal Execution?
Strategy Development: Formulate and implement comprehensive business strategies and action plans to drive organizational growth and efficiency.
Understand the strategic agenda and priorities of the business. Develop and drive implementation of new business operating models, processes and tools to deliver synergies and strategic outcomes
Develop AI, digital, and data strategies aligned with business goals, collaborating with Technology teams.
Collaborate with partners and service providersto drive strategic market infrastructure evolution and best practices
Project Management:Oversee enterprise and departmental projects and initiatives, ensuring effective change management and alignment with strategic goals for the department’s Data, Technology and Operating models.
Serve as catalyst to translate enterprise-level strategies into business-specific implementations
Partner across GIC teams to jointly formulateinitiatives in line with strategic objectives; driving operational excellence and digital transformation
Drive active monitoring of change implementation; design and roll-out change management interventions and ensure timely and effective adaptation of implementation plans as needed
Implement analytics tools and leverage data-driven insights to continuously optimise processes and platforms, improving user engagement and operational decision-making
Business Management:Develop and operationalize enterprise and departmental policies and frameworks to enhance organizational performance.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in private markets, identifying opportunities to innovate and enhance digital platforms.
Oversee and execute a range of ad hoc and recurring asset servicing, and operational controls activities through digitized workflows and integrated datasets.
Support annual business planning and budgeting process.
Ongoing oversight and management of budget, cost, and business administration.
Support ad hoc business needs and drive deliveries aligning with business agenda.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
Degree in Business, Finance, or related fields with 10-15 years relevant working experience in financial services and/or in strategy consulting
Proven experience in strategic planning and project management.
Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills;ability to communicate strategically yet operate at a tactical level when required.
Ability to drive change and foster collaboration across departments.
A versatile, proactive self-starter. Thrive on navigating ambiguity, while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
Robust data analytics capabilities; ability to translate complex information into clear insights
Solid knowledge of private markets is a plus.

Investment Services Private Markets (ISPVM)

It is responsible for providing deal structuring and closing, portfolio monitoring, valuation, finance, operations, tax, data management and analytics services in the execution of private markets investments in Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure. It is also involved in financial reporting and accounting of investment holding companies, as well as operations and financial due diligence for asset operations.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to work with a team on a transformation project overseeing the integrity and accuracy of our Investment Book of Records (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Records (ABOR), ensuring our data governance standards are upheld but also enable data-driven decisions by our investment teams. You'll work with systems and innovative tools to enhance our reference data management processes, enabling seamless data integration and accessibility across the organization. - Manage the end-to-end data lifecycle for private markets operations. Design, implement and maintain data models for private markets products, IBOR and ABOR.
- Manage and operate the end-to-end reporting cycle for private market investments, monitoring data issues, investigating root causes, designing, and tracking resolutions, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and practices.
- Lead the development of business user requirements, monitor the project progress and design testing strategies to execute user acceptance testing of systems and data changes, ensuring that investment and accounting book of records are accurately represented.
- Support the implementation of new capabilities in enterprise projects and platforms for private markets as the business, accounting, and data subject matter expert.
- Work closely with various stakeholders across business, data and technology teams to implement and support projects and solutions using best-of-breed technologies and methodologies while adhering to data governance and accounting standards.
- Implement best practices from data management standards and continuously improve internal processes by exploring new tools and capabilities.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems or relevant disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the private markets, finance or investment / asset management industry. Business domain knowledge in private markets is a strong bonus.
- Strong hands-on understanding of the key principles, processes and controls relating to data management and reporting.
- Excellent project and time management skills to drive multiple workstreams concurrently.
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel Power Query and coding in Python / SQL is advantageous.
- Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills and enjoy complex problem solving.
