Key Responsibilities 1. Market Analysis & Strategy Development
  • Closely monitor global shipping market supply and demand dynamics, and track international chemical tanker indices (e.g., Clarksons Chemical Tanker Index, Platts Chemical Freight Rates). Conduct in-depth research on regional tonnage balance, oil price volatility, and geopolitical impacts to provide timely and accurate data and strategic recommendations to support chartering decisions, resource allocation, and business development.
  • Based on market insights and the company’s operational plans, formulate trade-lane-specific chartering strategies (including time charter, voyage charter, COA contracts), optimize vessel deployment, and enhance the company's responsiveness and competitiveness in the international chemical shipping sector.
2. End-to-End Chartering Operations Management
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with international shipbrokers, owners, charterers, and traders. Lead commercial negotiations to secure favorable charter party terms (e.g., hire rates, laytime, demurrage clauses).
  • Collaborate with legal teams to review charter party terms and mitigate legal risks (e.g., sanctions clauses, war risk zones); work closely with technical and operations teams to optimize voyage scheduling, bunker procurement, and route planning to minimize costs.
  • Oversee contract execution and daily follow-up, maintaining effective communication with shipowners, charterers, agents, and port authorities to resolve operational issues and ensure on-time vessel delivery, departure, and voyage completion.
3. Global Clients & Resource Network
  • Develop and manage key customer relationships across Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas (e.g., mining giants, energy majors, multinational trading firms); conduct regular client visits and participate in industry conferences to expand business networks.
  • Establish partnerships with global shipowners and financial leasing institutions to secure access to quality vessel resources and explore emerging market opportunities (e.g., Europe, Southeast Asia).
Job Requirements 1. Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Maritime Studies, Naval Architecture, International Trade, Logistics, Law, or related disciplines.
2. Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international chartering or ship leasing, with strong exposure to chemical tanker chartering preferred.
  • Proficient in charter party structuring, freight derivatives trading, and maritime law (e.g., English law / New York law).
  • Possesses a global network of cargo owners, shipowners, and brokers, and is familiar with shipping ecosystems in Singapore and the Netherlands (including ports, financial institutions, arbitration centers).
3. Core Competencies
  • Global Market Acumen: Deep understanding of chemical shipping cycles and segment-specific trends; able to identify arbitrage opportunities. Proficient in using tools like Clarksons SeaNet, VesselsValue, and capable of calculating and comparing TCE for time vs. voyage charters.
  • Risk Management: Able to evaluate charterer creditworthiness (e.g., via CreditSafe), and structure risk mitigation tools such as LCs or margin arrangements. Skilled in avoiding international sanctions (e.g., Russian oil price cap), ensuring charter parties comply with OFAC/EU regulations.
  • Cross-Cultural Communication & Negotiation: Comfortable working in multicultural teams and experienced in engaging with stakeholders such as MPA, ESG bodies, and classification societies (e.g., DNV, Lloyd’s Register). Adept at navigating negotiation styles across regions — e.g., detail-driven European shippers, relationship-focused Asian shipowners, and price-sensitive Middle Eastern traders.
