Lab Assistant Opportunity in Hematology
">We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant in Hematology. In this role, you will be responsible for following laboratory protocols in checking specimens received from clinics/clients and ensuring that names match request forms.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will also be required to follow all laboratory policies related to blood-borne pathogens and safety, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary.
Able to follow test requirements of reference laboratories and procure the appropriate specimens for testing, you will process laboratory specimens received from patients using prescribed laboratory guidelines. Additionally, you may assist clerical staff in reception areas of the laboratory, answering incoming phone calls and routing them to the appropriate lab staff.
You will be responsible for registering patients, retrieving results, and printing reports using our lab computer system. Your duties may also include preparing samples for sending out to other laboratories and utilizing centrifuges and other lab equipment to process specimens and prepare them for testing.
Under the direct supervision of a medical technologist, you will perform various lab tests including Chemistry/Special Chemistry, Haematology, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lab area, ensuring an adequate supply of materials and distributing requested stock items to their designated locations.
Key Responsibilities:
