Have you ever wanted to become involved in the global rollout of satellite earth stations for a high-performance satellite constellation? We are looking for a Satellite Communications Ground Engineer to join Project Kuiper's ground gateway implementation team. You will lead efforts to design, deploy and commission high performance ground gateways, collaborate with subject matter experts to develop highly efficient gateway deployment processes and mechanisms, and be the on-site team lead for installation of Kuiper gateway terminals. Kuiper ground gateways enable our low-latency, high-speed broadband satellite communication constellation allowing Amazon to serve un-served and under-served communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead teams performing on-site ground terminal installations and commissioning of international gateway terminals.
- Deliver operational sites to the Kuiper Operations Team, including physical, network, RF, calibration and site acceptance.

A day in the life
As a Gateway Commissioning Engineer, you will provide both engineering and on-site leadership to teams performing installation of our ground gateway systems. You will travel extensively (50%+) and be responsible for the installation of each site and direct the work of other team members at sites. You will also be the on-site engineer for performance of site configuration and acceptance testing. These systems provide mission critical communications with Kuiper satellites. Ground terminals include state of the art tracking antennas, modems, and innovative supporting systems.
About the team
The Ground Systems team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper's Ground and TT&C Gateways. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation. The team works closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Kuiper provides a seamless customer experience.

Main Responsibilities:
Operations Support
- Responsible for day-to-day operational issues and ensure that aircraft dispatches on time.
- Ensure Scoot’s service providers e.g. ground handlers / airport stakeholders deliver targeted performance outcomes in all operational areas without compromising on safety and security.
- Ensure efficient ground operations e.g. check-in/boarding/ transfer and baggage handling.
- Ensure Scoot’s service providers e.g. ground handlers / airport stakeholders comply with the standards and procedures including the consistent delivery of Scoot’s products and services by conducting regular audits.
- Provide feedback to internal department(s) on any lapse or gap of standards and procedures.
- Handle delays and flight disruptions to ensure passengers are least inconvenienced, minimize complaints and increase number of compliments.
- Liaise and maintain effective communication with all internal / external departments during operational situations to deliver the best outcome for aircraft utilization and passenger management.
- Analyse delay encountered on shift to determine the root cause and prevent recurrence.
- Conduct operational investigation (Document Irregularities, NTL Handling, Baggage Mishandling, Customer Complains etc.) not limited to other related matters during shifts to determine root cause and preventive measures.
- Follow up on assigned tasks and provide prompt updates in a timely manner according to the specified timeline e.g. tracking, monitoring and updating document irregularities, baggage mishandlings, crew voyage reports, tech crew reports, staff travel matters, customer complains – Sales force etc.
- Management of projects and ensure goals are achieved in a timely and effective manner.
- Plan and implement the digitalisation journey / technology for passengers to pursue new norms of travel e.g. contactless travel
- Provide timely updates to the team where required.
- Perform any other duties as requested and assigned by Head Office, Section Manager, Manager, Senior Manager.
- Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts, rotating days off, weekends and public holidays.
- Diploma / Degree holder, preferably in aviation or travel related management.
- Candidate with 1-3 years of work experience preferred.
- Candidate with prior work experience in and operational setting preferred.
