Purpose of the role
The Public Affairs Consultant is tasked with helping keep across the key political and regulatory agendas in the Asia-Pacific region that may impact the brand. This role will also help with coming up with strategic recommendations and risk mitigation strategies to help protect the brand and its ability to do business.
Key responsibilities
Monitoring of New and Emerging Regulatory Risks
Maintain ongoing monitoring and research into new and emerging regulatory risks across the region including industry trends
Make use of key subscriptions, such as FIA, to ensure up-to-date knowledge sharing
Make recommendations on other platforms or groups that could support with keeping the client updated
Ensure a keen focus on issues surrounding Health & Nutrition, Tax & Trade, Sustainability and Corporate Communications
Prepare Monthly Reports
Provide concise and relevant reporting to the region on a monthly basis, including presenting notes

About you
At least 15 years’ experience in public affairs / corp comms, ideally in the food and beverage sector
Proven experience and exposure to the regulatory and sustainability field
Background in program management
Extensive knowledge of and experience working in the Asia-Pacific region
Team player and people person, with the ability to influence and form strong relationships
Calmness under pressure and ability to deliver to tight deadlines

Leadership & Collaboration
Work with the CEO and Committees to define strategic advocacy and industry priorities.
Provide guidance and content support to Community Chairs to strengthen their impact and visibility.
Collaborate across Chamber teams to integrate outputs into member value delivery.
Support Communities, policy, and industry development activities.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Ideal Candidate Profile
8–10 years’ experience in government relations, public policy, industry development, or trade associations/chambers.
Strong network with Singapore government agencies, trade bodies, and industry leaders.
Proven track record in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and programme design.
Experience managing member-driven platforms (Chapters, councils, interest groups).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including policy writing.
Analytical, forward-looking, and commercially astute with strong project management skills.

Role Purpose

This role sits in the Government Relations & Regulatory Strategy (GRRS) APAC team and is central to anticipating, developing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence the policy environment in which LSEG operates. You will help to advance LSEG’s policy/regulatory agenda and profile with key stakeholders, within ASEAN and Australia. You will also act as a strategic adviser on policy, regulatory, reputational and geopolitical issues impacting our business, our customers, and the markets we operate in.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and relevant government agencies.
  • Develop and implement advocacy and engagement strategies to shape policy and regulation, including via consultation responses, engagement plans, coalition building and using commercial partnerships.
  • Anticipate, analyse, and communicate policy, legislative, regulatory, and political developments that impact the Group’s strategic and business priorities.
  • Represent LSEG at relevant events, roundtables and working groups.
  • Collaborate with the Global GRRS team and the Corporate Affairs and Marketing function on key Group-wide initiatives and projects.

What you'll bring:

  • A good understanding of the political and financial services regulatory frameworks of ASEAN markets and/or Australia.

What you will be working on
Data Governance Operations
- Develop and update relevant sections of Customs Department Orders (CDO) to implement data management and governance strategies that align with government policies and standards. Operationalise and review Data Governance Workflows in Customs’ Unified Data Platform (UDP), including Data Publications, Data Access, and Data Remediations processes. Manage users’ access to UDP and whole-of-government data platforms, including regular review of end user activity logs to identify non-compliant activities.
Data Management
- Review and harmonise Customs' data schema and metadata catalog, working with data engineers and data domain experts to maintain high-quality data efficiently and effectively. Review and operationalise the Data Acquisition Process, supporting Data Owners through acquisition procedures. Regularly review and improve the Data Acquisition Process. Review structures, documentation, and processes to enhance the discoverability and understanding of data within Customs and across the Whole of Government (WOG). Review and operationalise Data Sharing Processes, ensuring compliance with IM and Customs legislations, and facilitate secure data-sharing within Customs and with other organisations. Regularly review and improve the Data Acquisition Process.
Policy Review and Implementation
- Review and operationalise procedures and requirements from data policies issued from the center of government. Maintain oversight of the state of data through regular monitoring and reporting on Customs and WOG data-related metrics and KPIs. Support Customs Chief Data Officer (CDO) on all data policy matters, cybersecurity incident investigations involving data outside of ICT&SS systems. Performing joint legislation review with the Agency Custodian of the Acts to ensure legislations are updated to support modern data operations.
What we are looking for
Requirements
- Experience in data governance principles, policies, and procedures with the ability to operationalise using appropriate governance workflows and structures.
Familiarity with data regulations and related enforcement and audits.
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively with various teams, including legal, IT, analysts, and business and data owners.
Demonstrated potential for leadership and team management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and processes.
Basic analytical skills to understand and interpret data-related issues will be an advantage.
