Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat ailments affecting the hand, wrist, and upper extremity.
- Assist patient to recover from injuries, surgeries, or conditions that impact their ability to perform daily tasks requiring hand function, such as writing, typing, dressing, or cooking.
- Evaluate hand function, strength, range of motion, dexterity, and coordination.
- Identify challenges in performing fine motor tasks and daily activities.
- Assess patients' pain levels, swelling, and sensation loss in the hands.
- Develop individual rehabilitation, intenvention programs for patients with conditions like fractures, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon injuries, or nerve damage
- Implement therapeutic exercises to improve mobility, strength, and flexibility.
- Provide manual therapy, stretching, and joint mobilization techniques.
- Utilise modalities like heat, cold, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation for pain management.
- Develop and fabricate custom splints or orthotics for stabilization and support.
- Educate patients to use assistive devices to regain independence in daily activities.
- Train patients in ergonomic techniques to prevent strain and reinjury.
- Teach patients on self-care techniques, hand protection, and joint conservation strategies.
- Training patients for modified work techniques and workstation adjustments.
- Planning home exercise programs to maintain recovery progress.
- Collaborate with hand surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain proper documentation of patient records and adjust treatment plans.
Requirements
- At least Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Full Registration with Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) is a must.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive working attitude and good team player.
- Able to sight blood and wound.

- Supervise and engage seniors to encourage participation in activities held at the center.
- Monitor and record seniors' participation level in activities.
- Perform range of motion (ROM) exercises and mobility training.
- Integrate maintenance rehab activities into daily routines of seniors.
- Observe seniors during sessions to compile and evaluate data on seniors' responses and progress, and escalate to therapy and/or nursing staff for quality care improvement if required.
- Monitor health status (vital signs, glucose level, and oxygen saturation) and escalate to nursing staff when required.
- Perform CPR/AED and first aid to seniors and plays an active role in emergency situations.
- Adhere to infection control practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas.
- Monitor inventories when required.
- Preferably holds a Certificate in Healthcare Support, WSQ Home Care certification, or a related qualification.
- Minimum GCE 'N' Level or relevant certificate.
- Experience in eldercare preferred.
