About the Role
As the Head of Fraud Detection , you will be at the forefront of protecting Aspire and its customers from fraud. This role is laser-focused on the continuous development, tuning, and optimization of our fraud detection systems. You will be the go-to expert for our rules-based engines and machine learning models, ensuring they are not only effective but also efficient. Your primary objective will be to enhance our detection capabilities to proactively identify and mitigate emerging fraud threats while supporting Aspire's rapid global expansion. You will define and execute the vision for Aspire’s fraud detection framework, ensuring its alignment with both regulatory landscapes and our strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Detection Systems: Take complete ownership of the performance and strategy for our fraud detection rules and models.
- Rule and Model Lifecycle Management: Design, implement, test, and deploy new fraud detection rules and machine learning models. Continuously monitor their performance and iterate to improve efficacy.
- Effectiveness and Efficiency Metrics: Be accountable for and actively drive improvements in key detection metrics, including:
- Transaction Detection Rate (TDR)
- Account Detection Rate (ADR)
- Value Detection Rate (VDR)
- Alert False Positive Rates
- Fraud Loss Metrics: Directly influence and take ownership of critical financial fraud metrics, including customer and Aspire fraud losses.
- Strategic Roadmap: In collaboration with product and data science teams, define and drive the roadmap for our fraud detection systems. This includes prioritizing new data sources, model enhancements, and rule logic to counter evolving fraud typologies.
- System Optimization: Continuously refine detection thresholds and model parameters based on data-driven insights from fraud investigations, quality control findings, and business feedback to minimize false positives and enhance detection accuracy.
- Innovation in Detection: Champion the integration of advanced AI/ML, automation, and predictive analytics to evolve our fraud prevention toolkit beyond traditional methods.
- Cross-functional Partnership: Act as the subject matter expert on fraud detection, collaborating closely with Fraud Operations, AML, Compliance, and Product teams to embed robust, automated fraud prevention measures into our products and workflows.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a specialized team on the technical aspects of fraud detection, fostering a culture of innovation, data-centric decision-making, and precision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in fraud management within a FinTech or regulated financial institution.
- A proven track record of designing, building, and scaling fraud detection systems, with demonstrable expertise in rule writing within rules-based engines and the implementation of machine learning models.
- Experience in designing and securing customer journeys is highly advantageous.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of fraud detection tools and platforms (e.g., Sardine, ThreatFabric, Feedzai, Riskshield).
- Strong familiarity with the underlying data architecture required for effective fraud detection and monitoring.
- Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a knack for breaking down complex and ambiguous issues into structured, actionable solutions using a first-principles approach.
- Hands-on proficiency in designing, implementing, and testing detection rules and logic.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with a proven ability to leverage data to drive insights and tangible improvements in detection systems.
- Proficiency in SQL is essential. Experience with Python or R for data analysis and model development is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences in a simple and effective manner.

• Apply fraud detection techniques with an analytical and data-driven perspective to sieve out new modus operandi of fraud/scams
• Conduct investigations into fraud and scam triggers, and escalate concerns to relevant parties, including preparation of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to Law Enforcement Agencies
• Participate in Regional Surveillance Operations transformation projects and initiatives that drive financial crime operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Perform Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Fraud management reporting, including data preparation and reconciliation
• Support the conducting of AML and Fraud governance forums, including crafting meeting agendas, taking minutes, following up on action items, and working with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful forum execution.

Maybank Singapore is looking for a Fraud Analyst to join our Cards Operations – Fraud Control Management team. If you’re passionate about preventing fraud, working with data, and helping customers feel safe, this role might be for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitor and investigate suspicious card transactions & e-payments using in-house and scheme-based fraud tools
- Follow up with customers on unauthorised transactions and manage card replacements
- Review and update fraud detection rules (Visa & MasterCard platform) based on emerging fraud trends
- Assess suspicious credit card applications and support AML monitoring efforts
- Liaise with internal teams, authorities, and card schemes on fraud-related cases
- Provide support in chargeback and recovery processes
- Prepare monthly and regulatory fraud reporting
What You Bring:
- A degree in Banking, Business, Finance, or a related field

About the teamThe Risk Operations team is looking for an experienced fraud analyst to join an industry leading global fraud operations team. This position is responsible for conducting complex data analysis to identify & mitigate large scale distributed fraud attacks, working closely with fraud strategy/detection/data science to implement mitigations, and working collaboratively with fraud stakeholders to expand automated detection of fraudulent merchants. They should have a deep understanding of fraud patterns/typologies, advanced SQL proficiency, and strong analytical abilities.

We are looking for someone passionate about fighting fraud, identifying new trends/typologies, conducting complex data analysis, and has a strong desire to work collaboratively with peers and partners in the fraud space. This position works closely with cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, data science, and operations to identify and mitigate risk from complex, distributed merchant and transaction fraud attacks.
The right candidate for this role will have a minimum of three years experience conducting complex data analysis using SQL, preferably within the fraud space across ecommerce or payments. Candidates should also have experience working closely with engineering and data science teams to drive automated fraud detection and demonstrate a deep understanding of fraud typologies, controls, and ability to mitigate fraud risk.
Responsibilities- Conduct advanced data analysis of structured and unstructured data sets to proactively identify emerging complex fraud attacks impacting Stripe and its users.
- Investigate, conduct root cause analysis, and deploy remediations to prevent future complex and distributed fraud attacks encompassing merchant fraud, transaction fraud, card testing, and local payment methods.
- Investigate and take action against anomalous clusters of merchants based on account activity, processing volume, or other risk indicators while minimizing negative impacts to Stripe users.
- Work in lockstep with engineering and data science teams to enhance automated detection and actioning of fraudulent accounts to minimize risks to Stripe and partner ecosystems.
- Respond to high priority incidents involving complex fraud schemes to quickly mitigate exposure to Stripe, its users, and financial partners.
- Utilize analytics to identify & implement initiatives to automate manual processes and workload across the organization.
- Create visualizations, dashboards, and queries to drive visibility and oversight into organization impact, performance, and loss risks.
- Utilize Stripe tools & systems to enable systematic actioning of fraudulent merchants, maintaining an extremely high level of accuracy to prevent negative user experience.

Minimum requirements- 6+ years of analytics experience with minimum 3+ years in fraud
- Advanced level proficiency in SQL
- Experience working closely with modeling, data science, and intelligence stakeholders to implement automatic & scaled controls & processes.
- Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards & presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
