Offer Description
As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to research and develop an integrated solution in the areas of food science and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and Co-Investigators (Co-Is) to ensure all project deliverables are met.
Undertake these responsibilities within the project:
Conduct laboratory trials to develop dual-textured kaya-butter prototypes.
Perform instrumental analysis of commercial products and lab samples, including data interpretation and the establishment of product specifications.
Provide bi-weekly project updates and presentations.
Prepare and draft technical reports.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health regulations.
Coordinate procurement activities and liaise with vendors and suppliers.
Work both independently and collaboratively within the team to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, or a related field.
Relevant experience in sauce and spread formulation, food rheology, and food ingredient applications.
Knowledge of fats and lipids is advantageous.
Proficient in both written and spoken English.
Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university.
