We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist to join Temasek This position involves working on a project to evaluate and develop work-rest cycles for the Singapore Armed Forces, including data collection through field trials and developing prediction models. The candidate will lead project planning and execution, provide scientific guidance, and advance research in exercise and health, especially in heat physiology and physical work tolerance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and lead project planning and execution
  2. Ensure responsibilities and outcomes of research projects
  3. Train junior team members
  4. Provide scientific leadership and advice
  5. Perform other duties as assigned by the PI
Job Requirements:
  1. PhD in sports science, physiology, exercise physiology, or related field
  2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in human performance or exercise physiology research
  3. Familiarity with human physiology research, especially heat physiology
  4. Skills in IRB application, stakeholder coordination, human subject recruitment, data collection and analysis, manuscript writing
  5. Strong writing skills for proposals, reports, and publications
  6. Experience in leadership and mentoring, including managing labs or guiding junior colleagues
  7. Proven ability to secure research grants and manage research projects
  8. High-quality peer-reviewed publications demonstrating research excellence

The candidate will build capabilities to push the frontiers of research in exercise and health particularly in heat physiology and the physiological bases for physical work tolerance.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with PI in the following areas of responsibilities

  • Provide both technical and operational leadership to the research team to successfully achieve the deliverables in the project
  • Lead and implement the planning and execution of projects
  • Own responsibilities in the execution and outcomes of research projects
  • Training more junior members of the team
  • Work closely with SAF and related stakeholders to strengthen align the working processes and contributions between the different organisations
  • Keep a close tech-watch on scientific solutions / models to keep the project at the forefront of science and technology
  • Engage with the scientific community to establish suitable collaborations to strengthen the project team
  • Bring the Military Medicine perspectives into the design, operation and completion of the project.
  • Ensure academic integrity in data analysis and compliance with IRB requirements
  • Take responsibility in drafting technical reports and presentations that are accurate and reflect the state of the study
  • Any other duties assigned by the PI

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in sports science / physiology / exercise physiology or related field
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in human performance / exercise physiology research
  • Familiarity with human physiology research and science, particularly in heat physiology

Job Scope and Responsibilities
- Guide students how to train effectively: Passionately coach and motivate students in a safe and highly engaging fitness environment, utilizing our unique Vigeo personal trainer system.
- Coach in a small group setting: Lead small group training sessions (up to 4 clients) in a safe and engaging environment, ensuring proper exercise technique and client safety
