The School of Science and Technology at JCU Singapore offers Bachelor of Business and Environmental Science (Non-major /Majoring in Aquaculture) and Bachelor of Science (Majoring in Aquaculture Science and Technology) programs.
Due to the continuing success of these programs and the increasing demand for graduates in this field, we are now seeking suitable candidates for the position of Sessional Lecturer/Tutor (Part-time teaching staff) in related areas, with a special focus on the following disciplines:
Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
Human and Urban Geography
Environmental Processes and Global Change
GIS
Biodiversity
The appointees will be experienced academic/faculty members and will be responsible for teaching and supervision in related subjects across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Environmental Science. Applications are invited from candidates with a master's (postgraduate) qualification with a focus in Environmental Science or a related discipline. A relevant degree plus industry experience may suffice for lecturing at the undergraduate level. Membership in professional bodies and associations will be an added advantage.
Duties
A leadership role in curriculum development and teaching.
Subject coordination.
Significant contribution to the profession, and/or discipline.
Selection Criteria
A PhD or a Masters degree in a relevant Environmental Science discipline mandatory.
Knowledge in one or more of several potential subject areas including: EIA & SIA, Human and Urban Geography, Environmental Processes & Global Change, GIS, Biodiversity.
A publication record relative to career stage.
Evidence of academic leadership.
Evidence of quality teaching and supervision of students at under- or postgraduate levels.
The ability to teach across a range of subjects at various levels.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relations with colleagues in an academic environment and with people from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job Description
The School of Materials Science and Engineering is looking for a highly motivated candidate to join us as a Project Officer (PO). The PO will join an MOE funded project led by Prof Ng Kee Woei. The project aims to upcycle keratinous waste for the bioplastics development. The PO will be responsible to develop and optimize the formulation of keratin-based bioplastics, characterize the produced bioplastics and assess its biodegradation profile in soil.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough literature review and generate periodic updates
Extract the keratin protein
Formulate and optimize keratin-based bioplastics
Characterize the keratin-based bioplastics properties (e.g. Mechanical strength, FTIR, SEM, degradability, permeability, water contact, etc.)
Analyse and interpret research data
Develop and optimize protocols
Manage logistical issues and laboratory inventory.
Participate in collaborative work within multidisciplinary team and external collaborators
Assist the generation of periodic progress report as required by funding agency
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Chemistry/Environmental Engineering/Biology or related fields
Experience in polymers, biomaterials research and material characterization required (e.g. Mechanical strength, FTIR, SEM, degradability, permeability, water contact, etc)
Experience in environmental science and engineering will be a bonus
Good communication and writing skills
Good coordination/project management skills
Able to plan and execute experiments with minimal supervision
Able to take initiative to improve processes and troubleshoot problems
Able to organize well and adhere to deadlines

- Machine Learning Pipeline Development:
- Assist in evaluating and analyzing functional assessment data.
