Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
Job Description
Salary range: SGD 14, ,500 per month + RSUs
Wise is building the world's most powerful money movement infrastructure — designed to make international payments instant, low-cost, and transparent. Our mission: money without borders.
We've built a high-scale cross-border platform that processes billions in volume across 70+ countries, and we're now bringing that infrastructure to banks, fintechs, and global platforms through Wise Platform, our enterprise offering.
We're now looking for an exceptional Engineering Lead to help us expand and scale Wise Platform Issuing — our global card infrastructure product. Since 2018, we've been building and operating our own card issuing and processing stack, processing over £80B in card spend globally and launching millions of cards as Principal members with both Visa and Mastercard. This infrastructure has powered launches with industry leaders like Nubank in Brazil and Tiger Brokers in Singapore.
We're looking for an engineering leader with deep fintech experience to help us take Wise Platform Issuing to the next level. This is a rare opportunity to build a category-defining product at global scale, backed by the engineering strength and mission of Wise Platform.
What will you be working on?
- Stay hands-on and lead by example. You'll be involved in the day-to-day of designing, developing, and maintaining your team's services, ready to roll up your sleeves, review code, and shape architecture
- Co-own the product vision and roadmap. Working as a critical partner to your Product Manager, you'll shape the 'why' and the 'what', not just the 'how'. Your goal is to know the customer and the problem space so well you can lead the team to the right outcomes.
- Empower and grow your team. You will cultivate ownership and accountability at every level. Your role is to empower your team to own and drive key initiatives, building the next generation of leads and staff engineers at Wise.
- Uphold technical excellence. You'll support the team in technical decisions to make sure we build a high-quality product that is reliable and can handle the next billion transactions.
- Influence across Wise. You'll build strong relationships across the organization to inspire other teams, align them behind a shared goal, and solve partner problems faster than we could alone.
Qualifications
We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you
- Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
- Deep Customer Obsession. You take full accountability for the success of the product you're building. You're obsessed with solving real problems for our partners and feel the pain points they face to ensure we're building what matters.
- A 'Get It Done' Mindset. You combine urgency with focus to unblock your team and deliver results without waiting for perfect conditions. You balance momentum and quality, moving quickly while always building for scale.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java (8+) and Spring Framework.
- Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures and the ability to design scalable, reliable systems using best practices.
- Strong experience working with, designing, and optimising relational databases.
- Ability to advocate and inspire other teams and people across the organization to rally behind solving complex problems.
- Curiosity and Creativity. You don't just accept problems as they are. You constantly ask how we could make something 10x better, not just 10% cleaner.
Additional Information
For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
