The Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) team, a part of Manufacturing Systems Engineering, is looking for an organized, detail-oriented problem-solver. This team is responsible for the onboarding and maintenance of manufacturing equipment at 10x Genomics, and also supports manufacturing transfer. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, great communication skills, ability to prioritize a variety of tasks, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Our products have allowed researchers to study biology at unprecedented resolution and scale, yielding insights in diverse fields such as cancer biology, immunology, neuroscience, and developmental biology.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and have a track record of taking initiative. They should be able to approach challenges with a hands-on and strategic mindset, be flexible in changing direction and methods, manage multiple priorities, and quickly become a key contributor.
What you will be doing:
- Program and support Hamilton liquid handlers (STAR, STARlet, and Vantage) and peripherals to support manufacturing areas and automate laboratory processes.
- Develop, optimize, and validate liquid classes and integrate Hamilton liquid handlers.
- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, including Hamilton liquid handlers (codebase and hardware) and custom automation equipment.
- Support Manufacturing areas, I.e. perform day-to-day routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment, schedule calibration/preventative maintenance, organize lab operation processes, and support general lab activities along with the automation team to promote an efficient working environment
- Support existing automation infrastructure with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Perform complex equipment repair and maintenance with focus on quality and safety. Able to find long term resolution to chronic equipment issues.
- Analyze performance data and establish trends, identify errors and make improvements to systems to ensure reliability and improve yield.
- Support equipment transfers, installations and validation activities.
- Develop work instruction and qualification documentation for new equipment and review existing documents regularly and update when needed.
- Collect or document, organize, and analyze service agreements and reports obtained from calibration and maintenance processes from external vendors as well as internal maintenance teams.
- Collaborate with EH&S and Facilities teams to ensure a safe and functional lab environment
- Support deployment and upkeep of a global CMMS database and digital record archive system.
- Contribute to cross-functional and intra-functional LCE projects (e.g. continuous improvement)
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree/master's degree in Engineering, Life Science, Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3 years experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment, with a focus on automation and liquid handling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues with industrial and laboratory equipment, specifically Hamilton liquid handlers.
- Experience with liquid class development and peripheral integration for automated liquid handling systems.
- Experience with life science instrumentation and processes.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Strong communication skills: listening, speaking, writing, and interacting
- Proficiency in utilizing data analysis tools, including spreadsheets and specialized software, to drive informed engineering decisions, optimize processes, and report on key performance indicators.

What You'll Do:
- Manage production environment by monitoring availability and alerts, promptly remediating any issues in the production environment.
- Design and deliver infrastructure solutions that will help build, deploy, and manage the service components of the platform.
- Investigate various open-source and proprietary technologies, components, libraries, tools, etc., and help build a highly available, highly scalable, and easily manageable system.
- Demonstrate technical leadership in multiple domain areas, providing mentorship to other team members, as well as partnering with development teams to improve services on an ongoing basis.
- Take responsibility and ownership of F5 Cloud Platform software components, delivering a complete product that meets functional, scale, performance, and manageability requirements.
- Write clean, efficient code in multiple languages (e.g., Python, Golang) while considering performance, scalability, maintainability, and flexibility. Develop tooling and processes to ensure that the F5 Cloud platform is highly available, scalable, and high-performing.
- Remediate security vulnerabilities in our services and platform on a regular basis, and participate in on-call rotation.
- Architect and maintain F5's foundational cloud platform services (for example, infrastructure abstraction, provisioning, and deployment tooling) to ensure consistency, reliability, and scalability across the organization.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines, leveraging tools such as Terraform, Helm to automate provisioning, configuration, and environment orchestration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-SREs, application engineers, and QA-to define platform requirements, set best practices, and drive adoption of platform tools that improve the developer experience.
- Create self-service interfaces and documentation for developers, enabling them to deploy, monitor, and manage applications more easily and securely on the platform.
- Define platform-level SLOs and SLIs in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring robust performance monitoring and effective capacity planning.

- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in an SRE/Platform Engineering/DevOps role.

- Strong familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD practices, and automation frameworks.
