What you'll do:

  • Deliver SES ES projects on Solar PV & Energy Monitoring Solution, Electrical Meter and Water Meter Installation
  • Conduct site surveys during pre-award, engineering, construction, installation and commissioning on customer's sites
  • Support Contractor Management and perform site work supervision for contractors
  • Conduct daily toolbox meeting for all site work activities including weekends and holidays
  • Entails weekend works such as hoisting/shutdown/testing/commissioning and night shutdown
  • Conduct on-site verification of installation with drawings

What the role is

The key scope of work for the position is to provide operational support of Energy Management Systems which involves round the clock monitoring and control of electricity generators as well as the electricity and natural gas transmission networks. In addition, the position is also required to operate a Cybersecurity Operation Centre to monitor cybersecurity threats and manage Power Sector Critical Information Infrastructure incidents.

What you will be working on

  1. Energy Management System
  2. Provide first-level technical support to the Energy Management System to ensure high availability and reliability. This includes attending to technical problem reported by Power System Operators, operations and maintenance of Energy Management System, other supporting operational technology systems, OT/IT network & security infrastructures to ensure these systems (both hardware and software applications) are of high availability and reliability.
  3. Participates in the design and technical enhancements on mission-critical Energy Management Systems (EMS) such as integrating renewables such as solar, energy storage and electricity imports into EMS to meet operational business requirements. This also includes fine tuning of power system applications to support real-time operations such as power system studies (e.g. Contingency Analysis, Transmission Network Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis), Automatic Generation Control, load forecast, solar PV forecast, telemetry, State Estimator, and the Dispatcher Training Simulator.
  4. Coordinate with Licenseses' to facilitate connection of new generation facilities, transmission network equipment (both electricity and gas systems) including performing updates and validate of EMS databases with field equipment and market operation.
  5. Cyber Security Monitoring for Power Sector
  6. Provide first-level technical support for Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC) to manage cyber incident that may cause severe impact to Power System Operation and Power Sector's Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs). Job responsibilities include analysing security alerts, identifying anomalies, report findings to stakeholders. Perform daily triage of the security cases and following up with CII Operators and resolution of incidents reported.
  7. Cybersecurity Risk Assessment & Management
  8. Develops technical solutions, including cyber security mitigation measures and/or configuration changes to meet regulatory requirements such as Cybersecurity Act and CCoP.
  9. Coordinate security reviews risk assessments, security audits that can effectively pre-empt and identify significant security loopholes or weaknesses. This include carrying out documentation reviews, testing and implementing recommendations by the auditors, and performing system patching.
    In addition, the department also maintain other critical supporting infrastructure such as Uninterruptible Power Supply, fire protection system, security access system etc to ensure reliable operation of the EMS system and the operation centres.

What we are looking for

  • Keen interest in the field of OT cybersecurity, power system engineering and serving in public service.
  • Competency in computer programming, technical hardware architecture, Linux/Unix/Windows Operating System. Familiar with basic networking commands and understanding of basic networking protocol and security concepts. Good understanding of information security practices related to ISO 27001, Risk Assessment, Application and Network Security.
  • Good understanding of Power System Engineering, Control Centers Operations, electricity substation/gas facility environments and devices would be added advantage.

Job Description
VFlowTech is involved in the design, development and deployment of Advanced Energy Storage Systems and Microgrids based on Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB) and Lithium-ion Battery (LFP type).
For developing Battery Management Systems (BMS):
Define BMS functions, design hardware architecture, schematics, PCB layout, select suitable components, devices and equipment.
Develop and implement BMS firmware with core algorithms (charging, discharging, SOC/SOH calculations and balancing, etc.).
Develop and debug BMS firmware and perform on-site debugging of energy storage systems.
For developing Energy Management Systems (EMS):
Define EMS functional requirements, design overall solutions, and formulate software architecture.
Design system communication, SCADA, power quality regulation, energy metering, and other topological structures.
Develop and implement EMS software system and module testing and conduct overall software integration for energy storage systems.
Build BMS and EMS testing platforms for functional, performance, and reliability testing.
Responsible for researching industry-related products, standards, and technological trends in BMS/EMS, and continuously provide suggestions and improvements for the company's BMS/EMS technology roadmap.
Role Requirements:
Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++, with experience in embedded system design (TI/Microchip/STM32 MCU, DSP, SoC etc.).
Familiarity with electronic circuits and microcontroller applications, as well as expertise in various communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, I2C, SPI, RS485, RS232, etc.).
Familiarity with BMS features and BMS operation principles, such as parameter monitoring, protection logic, fault diagnosis, SOC/SOH estimation,
Familiarity with power system SCADA/EMS systems, such as solar forecasting, frequency regulation (automatic generation control (AGC), droop control, secondary frequency regulation), economic energy dispatch.

3 years of relevant experience (firmware engineer, embedded design and/or validation)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Pre-Sales Engineer to lead the scoping and solutioning of Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS) projects for both new buildings and retrofits. This role is pivotal in translating client requirements into actionable, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that align with Singapore’s regulatory standards and sustainability goals.


This role will require gaining a deep understanding of the ENX Sustainability Suite, including its architecture, integration capabilities with field devices and systems to design compelling and effective solutions with features and functions of the Sustainability Suite.


This role must work closely with the Sales and Engineering teams to achieve sales outcomes for ENX Systems. The Pre-Sales Engineer plays an integral role in the Sales process by interfacing with clients, from proposal to the sales contracting stage, with solutions scoped and designed to effectively sell the ENX Sustainability Suite.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Scoping & Solution Design

  • Engage with clients and partners to understand operational needs, site conditions, and energy goals.
  • Develop technical proposals and solution architecture for BMS and EMS deployments.
  • Translate requirements into solutions that result in energy savings.
  • Conduct Site Surveys to scope our retrofit projects and to identify energy savings opportunities.
2. Technical Consultation & Demonstration
  • Conduct product demos and technical workshops for stakeholders.
  • Advise on system interoperability, scalability, and compliance with BCA, PUB, and NEA guidelines.
3. Tender & Proposal Support
  • Prepare detailed scope documents, BOMs, and functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines.
  • Create winning proposals
4. Vendor & Technology Evaluation
  • Assess third-party hardware for fit, compatibility, performance and reliability
  • Evaluate and recommend sensors, controllers and IoT devices to address different use cases
5. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with consultants, facility managers, and procurement teams to define specifications and to refine scope.
  • Engage with Consultants and Contractors to drive understanding of our solutions.
  • Work closely with partners to drive solutioning and structure winning proposals.
  • Support post-sales handover with clear documentation and technical briefings.
  • Equip, train and empower newly recruited Partner engineering resources to drive enablement for these partners in the area of implementation, testing and commissioning as well as troubleshooting.

Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services) or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in pre-sales or solution engineering for BMS/EMS projects.
  • Hands on experience with electrical and water sub-metering and control systems for lighting and ACMV
  • Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and other building automation protocols.
  • Good knowledge of Networking concepts to configure and support network equipment including routers, switches, LTE and Wireless networks.
  • Strong understanding of Singapore’s building codes, energy efficiency standards, and green mark requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex systems.
Preferred Skills

Overview
Principal consultant to lead business development and our strategy services for our Management Consulting (MC) team in Singapore, focusing on the energy sector and the energy transition, with opportunity to also support our bioindustry services. The role will focus on Singapore clients and market but will also work collaboratively with our global Management Consulting offices, as well as AFRY’s other divisions, in the APAC region.
Responsibilities
Your scope of work will include the following:
Overall leadership of our Management Consulting (MC) operations in Singapore and with Singapore clients, with focus on strategy services for the energy sector and the energy transition (and possibly also the bioindustry sector). Essential responsibilities include proactive marketing and business development, developing capabilities, project supervision and/or management, reporting, supervising and mentoring junior team members and ensuring their utilisation levels, quality control, and customer satisfaction.
Active business development of MC services to Singapore-based clients and international clients interested in the Singapore market, with focus on Strategy services. MC services include: market analysis, power market modelling, market price projections; transaction services (especially market and commercial due diligence); energy transition advisory/strategy and corporate decarbonisation advisory/strategy from market and commercial perspectives; economic, techno-economic, and financial modelling; electricity market design; renewable energy procurement as well as portfolio analysis and optimisation; and similar.
Development of thought leadership materials and presentations.
Collaborating with other AFRY units as appropriate and representing MC’s capabilities and potential contributions in multi-disciplinary and multi-department projects such as waste to energy, gas/LNG-fired power plants, CCS, green hydrogen/ammonia, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), biomass to power, transmission and interconnectors, data centres, and nuclear power.
Acting as Project Manager or Project Director (depending on the project) for selected MC projects for clients in Singapore or focusing on Singapore.
Acting as Project Manager or Project Director (depending on the project) for selected Strategy projects that may focus on other countries in the region – as appropriate.
Line management of the Singapore MC team and Strategy-focused staff (typically 2-5 direct reports total) including setting their individual annual objectives, evaluating their performance, and ensuring their utilisation levels; as well as recruitment of MC team members in Singapore and/or those focusing on Strategy projects in Singapore or other offices in APAC.
Coordinating resources for larger multi-disciplinary projects driven or owned by MC, from among 500+ energy focused staff in the Asia region (inside and outside of MC), as well as coordination with AFRY specialists in other offices around the world.
Preparation of reports for the clients as required and quality control for the internal report preparation process.
Ensure the application of AFRY’s group guidelines and other internal and external policies in order to guarantee a sustainable and compliant conduct of business.
Leading by example to promote AFRY’s values including acting as a “Brave, Devoted, Team Player”.
Short term travel expected in projects and to support business development in Singapore and possibly the broader APAC region.

Higher professional degree in field relevant for the job, typically including, Engineering, Business, Economics, or related (B.Sc. or higher)
Industry background including good connections with local energy sector clients and more than 10 years’ work experience from power utilities, IPP developers, engineering companies, power sector consulting companies, or general management consultancies with energy sector coverage
Fluency in English
Excellent report writing, presentation and verbal communication skills
