Key job responsibilities
- Manage the interconnection of AWS data centers in the region to the electric grid by working with utilities and local authorities to ensure on time, on budget and to specifications MV & HV transmission works & substation delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Planning, Real estate, Design, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Finance & Commissioning teams to coordinate project activities and resolve any issues that may arise during project execution.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, including progress reports, financial updates, region strategy documents and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including power utilities, regulators, suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Undertake power due diligence for new or proposed data center sites to check power availability and feasibility.
- Interface with power utilities and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals and permits for project implementation.
- Managing utility contracts/retail agreements - entering into connection agreement; contracting the right capacity to optimize on power purchase costs.
- Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objective.
- Study, understand and have view on regional power infrastructure network and utility planning and changes to the broader power infrastructure.
- Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure improvements.
- Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to power infrastructure and supply.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.
- 4 plus years working in utility/renewables/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.
- 2 plus years of managing multiple million dollar infrastructure projects with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion

You will provide legal support and advice to a diverse client base, including governments, government-linked entities, multinational corporations, and industry leaders across various sectors including renewable energy, conventional energy, petrochemicals, gas, water, utilities, transport, and telecommunications.
You can expect to work not only on novel projects in Singapore but also first-of-its-kind cross-border projects and navigate the unique business, legal, and political landscapes of Southeast Asia. You will also be exposed to general corporate and commercial legal work – ensuring your development as an all-rounded corporate lawyer.
Key Responsibilities:
Advising clients on the development, structuring, and implementation of energy and infrastructure projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments
Drafting and negotiating agreements related to the generation, transmission, and sale of electricity, clean energy initiatives, desalination, utilities, and waste-water treatment/disposal projects
Advising clients on the structuring and implementation of, and drafting and negotiating agreements related to, public-private partnership and infrastructure projects (including those related to power plants, data centres, waste-to-energy facilities, ports, transportation, and petrochemical facilities, tankage, terminalling, and logistics arrangements)
Legal research and analysis on Singapore law and industry practices across various industry sectors
Advising on, and preparing documentation for, general corporate matters and commercial transactions, covering areas such as the sale and purchase of goods, services arrangements, supply and distribution arrangements, hire-purchase arrangements, and employment
Working closely with senior team members to deliver practical, client-focused solutions that address operational, regulatory, and commercial challenges
Requirements:
Interest or background in energy, infrastructure, and project development
Good drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
Collaborative and cooperative personalities are welcome – we are looking for someone who enjoys working with and being part of a team
Eagerness to learn and develop as a corporate lawyer
Fluency in English required, and proficiency in an additional Asian language (e.g. Mandarin, Bahasa) is an advantage

Requirements:
  1. Associate with 3-6 years PQE with a solid background in Energy & Infrastructure Projects, including experience in Renewable Energy, Solar, Onshore and Offshore Wind sectors.
  2. Must be admitted to practice law in the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, or a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
  3. Currently employed at a top-tier international law firm or a leading local Singapore law firm.
