What the role is

The key scope of work for the position is to provide operational support of Energy Management Systems which involves round the clock monitoring and control of electricity generators as well as the electricity and natural gas transmission networks. In addition, the position is also required to operate a Cybersecurity Operation Centre to monitor cybersecurity threats and manage Power Sector Critical Information Infrastructure incidents.

What you will be working on

  1. Energy Management System
  2. Provide first-level technical support to the Energy Management System to ensure high availability and reliability. This includes attending to technical problem reported by Power System Operators, operations and maintenance of Energy Management System, other supporting operational technology systems, OT/IT network & security infrastructures to ensure these systems (both hardware and software applications) are of high availability and reliability.
  3. Participates in the design and technical enhancements on mission-critical Energy Management Systems (EMS) such as integrating renewables such as solar, energy storage and electricity imports into EMS to meet operational business requirements. This also includes fine tuning of power system applications to support real-time operations such as power system studies (e.g. Contingency Analysis, Transmission Network Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis), Automatic Generation Control, load forecast, solar PV forecast, telemetry, State Estimator, and the Dispatcher Training Simulator.
  4. Coordinate with Licenseses' to facilitate connection of new generation facilities, transmission network equipment (both electricity and gas systems) including performing updates and validate of EMS databases with field equipment and market operation.
  5. Cyber Security Monitoring for Power Sector
  6. Provide first-level technical support for Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC) to manage cyber incident that may cause severe impact to Power System Operation and Power Sector's Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs). Job responsibilities include analysing security alerts, identifying anomalies, report findings to stakeholders. Perform daily triage of the security cases and following up with CII Operators and resolution of incidents reported.
  7. Cybersecurity Risk Assessment & Management
  8. Develops technical solutions, including cyber security mitigation measures and/or configuration changes to meet regulatory requirements such as Cybersecurity Act and CCoP.
  9. Coordinate security reviews risk assessments, security audits that can effectively pre-empt and identify significant security loopholes or weaknesses. This include carrying out documentation reviews, testing and implementing recommendations by the auditors, and performing system patching.
    In addition, the department also maintain other critical supporting infrastructure such as Uninterruptible Power Supply, fire protection system, security access system etc to ensure reliable operation of the EMS system and the operation centres.

What we are looking for

  • Keen interest in the field of OT cybersecurity, power system engineering and serving in public service.
  • Competency in computer programming, technical hardware architecture, Linux/Unix/Windows Operating System. Familiar with basic networking commands and understanding of basic networking protocol and security concepts. Good understanding of information security practices related to ISO 27001, Risk Assessment, Application and Network Security.
  • Good understanding of Power System Engineering, Control Centers Operations, electricity substation/gas facility environments and devices would be added advantage.

  • Liaise with CoreTRM product developers to design and test enhancements
  • Follow CoreTRM standards, procedures and policies
  • Provide ongoing support to clients when required
  • Assist in preparation of materials for sales demo or new SOW (Statement of Work) when required
  • Any other ad-hoc duties when required
  • Travel to or based at client sites locally or overseas when required

NOTE: This is not an IT (Information Technology) role - this is a CLIENT FACING role that requires consultants to have the relevant business knowledge, speak to clients, understand their business requirements, and work with internal counterparties (Services/IT team if development work is required) to customise our platform to suit clients' requirements.

  • Degree in any discipline
  • Knowledge of commodity or oil trading is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem solving skills; methodical and logical
  • Believer in systems, and business processes
  • Comfortable with overseas travel

Key Responsibilities
Conduct energy audits, analysis, and benchmarking to assess performance and identify inefficiencies, and make recommendations to improve energy efficiency.
Analyze and report Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and support development of carbon neutrality strategies and net-zero roadmaps.
Select appropriate technologies, frameworks, platforms and tools based on customer requirements, considering factors like scalability, performance, security and cost.
Drive, develop, and expand the energy and carbon management business to achieve departmental sales targets.
Qualifications & Requirements
Min Degree in Chemical Engineering/Energy System Engineering/Environmental Engineering
Experience in energy auditing, energy efficiency, and carbon accounting.
Familiarity with ISO 50001, GHG Protocol, or equivalent frameworks.
Singapore certified energy manager (SCEM) or professional engineer (PE) would be advantages.
Knowledge of refinery/petrochemicals industry and processes.
Capability to conduct energy audits, analysis, and benchmarking to assess performance and identify inefficiencies, and make recommendations to improve energy efficiency.
Capability to analyze and report Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and support development of carbon neutrality strategies and net-zero roadmaps.
Knowledge of up/mid-stream and other industry sectors such as chemicals, fertilizer and related industries is an advantage.
Experience in assessing carbon footprint and supporting decarbonization initiatives is an advantage.
Technical sales experience would be an advantage.
