1. Volunteer Management (including befrienders)
- To manage the volunteers’ engagement, deployment and experience in order to achieve the organization’s mission and vision and build sustainable partnerships that mutually benefits.
- Support in coordination, recruitment, deployment, training, retention, and recognition of individual/corporate volunteers.
- To curate materials to support the corporate services in their marketing and communications work.
- To oversee and maintain an up to date database of volunteers and corporate partners
2. Educational/Employment Needs
- To provide academic/employment support for assigned residents in the Home.
- Provide group or one-on-one coaching to support residents’ educational needs.
- Implement and monitor progress of individualised educational plans and academic performance
- To deploy volunteers or professional resource pool to support academic needs accordingly and review /evaluate the effectiveness of help given.
- As needed, to provide guidance to tertiary residents in their employment/educational pathways and transitions
- To support in outcome reporting at relevant platforms
3. Programme/activities and Life Skills
- To oversee the scheduling and organization of volunteer-directed programmes to ensure a balanced representation of the different types of activities.
- To work with the team in co-designing, facilitating and evaluating the implementation of the Life Skills Programme.
Job Requirements:
- A degree in a related discipline
- 2 years of relevant work experience in volunteer management, programme development or groupwork will be an advantage. Fresh graduates may be considered as well.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Understanding of programme development
- Possess good knowledge of the social service and educational landscape /resources
- Good written and oral communication
- Possess high level of initiative, independence and adaptability.
- High levels of accountability and adaptability
- Able to work after office hours or on weekends if required

The Department of Child Development provides specialist diagnostic and intervention services to preschoolers who have developmental, emotional, and/or behaviour needs. We support children with a range of conditions such as autism, speech and language disorders, global developmental delay, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, selective mutism, oppositional defiant disorders. We place high emphasis on working with the child’s family to facilitate the child’s learning and development.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech language therapists, education therapists, nurses and social workers. You will provide assessments for diagnosis of autism, intervention recommendations and educational placements. You will provide evidence-based psychological interventions to manage mood, anxiety and behavioral issues, and work across disciplines to deliver transdisciplinary services. You will have opportunities to be involved in research and service projects.
Job Requirements
- At least a Master Degree in Psychology (Clinical /Educational) with practicum component
- Eligible for Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) full membership
- Eligible for registration with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP)
- Effective interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills, and good psychological report writing skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team, and in a fast paced environment
- Preferably with working experience with young children (i.e., toddlers and preschoolers) and/or with children with autism.
- Candidates with more experience will be considered for the senior position.
- Preferably with at least 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience
- Experience working with parent-child interactions, providing psychotherapy with adults, and/or developing clinical services would be an added advantage.

The Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research (EMPOWER) Centre at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for up to three (3) Programme Leaders who will be appointed to the rank of Fellow/Senior Fellow/Principal Fellow as commensurate with experience and may additionally hold the title of Research Assistant Professor through competitive award.
The Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research Centre’s Mission Is To Maximise Every Child’s Mental And Emotional Capital By Uplifting Neurodevelopmental Trajectories During Early Sensitive Periods Through Interdisciplinary Discovery Science And Translational Technologies. The Centre Has 3 Major Activities And Thrusts
- Core Discovery Research, Empowering Science: Basic neuroscience research and AI computational models to understand individual neurocognitive potential, developmental trajectories, risk and resilience factors
- Clinic & Pedagogy, Empowering Practitioners: Precision assessment and intervention to optimise parent-child social and mental health within clinical, education and community settings
- Real-World Technologies, Empowering Families: Scalable real-world technologies for parent-led interventions to support children’s mental and cognitive wellbeing at home
The EMPOWER Centre's current portfolio of research is worth in excess of SGD$20 mil (USD$15 mil). Programme Leaders will be expected to provide scientific leadership for on-going basic research, translational and commercial programmes in child health under the Centre's remit. Indicatively, we are looking to appoint one Programme Leader to oversee and expand each of the Centre's core thrusts. Programme Leader will be supported to develop own research programme and to obtain independent research funding, within the EMPOWER remit.
Programme Leader will work closely with EMPOWER’s Director, Professor Victoria Leong , as well as with local and international collaborators, as part of a diverse and talented international research team. Programme Leader will also assist with supervision and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing scientific leadership for on-going basic research, translational and commercial programmes in child health under the Centre's remit;
- To oversee and expand each of the Centre's core thrusts;
- To develop own research programme and to obtain independent research funding, within the EMPOWER remit;
- Assist with supervision and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- PhD degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computational, Technological, Clinical, Educational or other fields related to EMPOWER's remit
- Strong track record of research publication, commensurate to career stage
- Evidence of research leadership or strong potential to become an independent research leader
- Experience with teaching and supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Efficient, organized, and a good team player
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others
