What We Look For In You

Job Summary

Accelerated Materials Pte Ltd is seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our multidisciplinary engineering teams in Singapore. This senior leadership role is responsible for directing our pioneering AI development projects for materials discovery and overseeing the design, development, and scaling of advanced systems for nanomaterial production. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong background in both software/AI engineering and physical systems engineering, capable of driving innovation from concept to commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term engineering and technology roadmap, aligning AI initiatives with nanomaterial production goals to accelerate the materials innovation lifecycle.
  • AI & Software Oversight: Lead the AI and computational science teams in developing and deploying machine learning models, data infrastructure , and simulation platforms for materials prediction, characterisation, and process optimisation. Ensure the robustness, scalability, and security of our proprietary AI platforms.
  • Nanomaterial Production Systems: Oversee the mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering teams responsible for the design, prototyping, and commissioning of automated synthesis and processing equipment for novel nanomaterials. Drive continuous improvement in system reliability, yield, and quality control through high-throughput experimentation .
  • Team Management & Development: Mentor and manage a high-performing team of engineers and scientists. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented culture. Lead recruitment, training, and professional development efforts for the engineering department.
  • Project & Budget Management: Direct the entire lifecycle of complex engineering projects, from initial scoping and resource allocation to final delivery. Manage the engineering budget, ensuring projects are completed on time and within financial scope.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D, Product, and Commercial teams to translate scientific discoveries into scalable, commercially viable products and solutions. Serve as the key technical liaison for external partners, vendors, and clients.
  • Intellectual Property & Compliance: Champion the development of a strong IP portfolio by identifying patentable inventions. Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • A PhD in Chemistry, Computer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a technology or engineering field, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience leading AI/ML development projects , including deep learning, data engineering, or computational modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development, and scaling of complex physical systems , such as manufacturing equipment, robotics, or laboratory automation.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to bridge the gap between software development and physical engineering.
Preferred:
  • Experience in the materials science, nanotechnology, or semiconductor industries.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, machine learning, and/or system control.
  • Experience with PLC programming using ladder logic or other IEC languages.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory automation and robotic systems for high-throughput experimentation.
  • Knowledge of flow chemistry and continuous manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup or high-growth environment.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Engineering Director to lead our team of sales engineers across the APAC region (8-10 team members). The person will be responsible for managing all facets of the sales engineering function. These include leading the most important sales cycles, ensuring technical plus professional excellence along with the recruiting, development and leadership of a team of Sales Engineers.
In this role, you will drive the technical sales process, ensuring our sales engineers deliver exceptional support and demonstrate the value of our SaaS business intelligence solutions to prospective clients. You will collaborate closely with sales, product management, and customer success teams to maximize our impact in these regional markets and support our global growth strategy.
Your Focus
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of sales engineers across the APAC region.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Partner with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide technical expertise during the sales cycle.
Lead product demonstrations, proof of concepts, and technical presentations that effectively communicate the value of our solutions.
Sales cycle leadership means personal involvement in the most important sales cycles in their assigned region to ensure the highest possibility of success. This may include individual contribution.
Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and our product capabilities to provide valuable insights and guidance.
Assist in the creation of technical documentation, FAQs, and training materials for internal teams and customers.
Work closely with product management and engineering teams to relay customer feedback and influence product roadmap decisions.
Coordinate with marketing to ensure that technical materials are aligned with sales campaigns.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators for the sales engineering team.
Report on team performance, sales opportunities, and customer feedback to senior management.
Engage with key customers and prospects to build relationships and understand their technical requirements.
Support customer onboarding and implementation efforts as needed to ensure successful product adoption.
Support Partners of MicroStrategy to identify and define joint opportunities. The individual will provide functional and technical advice, sales training and other in-person support to Partners on an as-needed basis.
Advance the product knowledge of MicroStrategy Partners through education, training, skills transfer, and best practices.
Required Experience and Skills
Demonstrable experience in a sales engineering management position with proven ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment (8-10 team members).
Strong previous experience in a Sales Engineering (Pre-sales) position, supporting sales cycles selling Business Intelligence or other high-value business solutions.
Experience with BI tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, SAP Analytics Cloud, Quicksight, Business Objects, Cognos, Looker).
Training in value-based selling (MEDDICC, Force Management, Demo to Win, etc.).
Demonstrated sales success.
SaaS and Cloud based selling with Hyperscalers and other partners (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
General knowledge of AI and prompt engineering.
General knowledge of the BI and analytics market.
Specific experience with MicroStrategy is a major plus.
Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, data engineering, data integration.
Familiarity with APAC markets and cultures, with fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Ability to travel as required.
Degree educated or equivalent (Computer Science or Information Technology).
