GA is at the leading edge of creating practical solutions to one of the most pressing challenges of our time - the future of work. As recognized by The World Economic Forum, BCG, the OECD and more, these are big challenges to which only a few companies are offering real solutions. In this role, you'll be speaking every day to corporate leaders who rely on GA to help them apply these solutions to their workforce of the future.

We are currently looking for a lead instructor for our full-time (12 week) Data Analytics Bootcamp.

We are looking for instructors:

Our Data Analytics Bootcamp is a life-changing educational experience where our students learn the skills and mindsets to take on new careers as data analysts. We are looking for a lead instructor with experience cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data to stakeholders and clients.

This role is based in Singapore and is delivered in a hybrid (on campus and online) format, requiring instructors to reside in Singapore and have an eligible work permit or be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident. (We are not currently sponsoring employees.)

Why teach our Data Analytics Bootcamp?

If you are looking to make a life-changing impact by sharing your love for data analytics with the next generation of analysts, we’d love for you to consider joining our team. We deliver more than just skills training, and are looking for teachers who share our vision for facilitating and mentoring a community of lifelong learners pursuing work that they love. As a teacher, you will join us to:

  • Work closely with the instructional team (co-lead instructors, instructional associates, instructor manager) to guide students through a rigorous, transformational journey.
  • Become a better leader, coach, and mentor as you learn from students, experienced instructors, and the larger General Assembly community.
  • Inspire and support students as they identify their passions and drive their own continued learning beyond the curriculum; motivate students when they deal with classroom and personal challenges that become barriers to learning.
  • Adapt our global curriculum and use it to guide your teaching, building your own lesson plans as needed and contributing back your lessons learned over time.
  • Facilitate a safe, supportive, and energetic community that welcomes the various abilities, needs and learning styles of your students.
What do we teach?

Through a combination of live instruction, supported study with independent work, unit projects (individual and team-based) and 1:1 support, we teach our learners how to turn messy real-world datasets into actionable, data-driven insights they can communicate. We will be using Excel, SQL, Tableau, and PowerBI as the primary tools for analysis as well as provide learners with a foundation in Python programming to build predictive machine learning models.

The Data Analytics Bootcamp consists of nine units:

  • Unit 1: Responsible data analytics
  • Unit 2: Statistics and mathematics for data analysts
  • Unit 3: Data analysis and interpretation with Excel and Power BI
  • Unit 4: Data acquisition and cleaning with SQL
  • Unit 5: Data analysis and communication with Tableau
  • Unit 6: Data analysis with Python
  • Unit 7: Data in the organization
  • Unit 8: Capstone projects
  • Unit 9: Career planning

Learning is assessed through four major projects (two independent projects, a team/group data sprint, and final course capstone) as well as nine labs. About 20% of the overall class time is dedicated to supporting learners’ project work.

Skills & Qualifications
  • You are eager to shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of eager General Assembly students.
  • You are the person that your colleagues naturally gravitate to when they are trying to figure something out.
  • You have strong experience using the following tools: Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Python Programming.
  • You have 4+ years of work experience in a role where you’ve been responsible for cleaning messy data, analyzing the data and presenting your data-based insights.
  • You are proficient in data analysis using Python's pandas library, with a solid understanding of data manipulation, cleaning, and aggregation.
  • You are familiar with machine learning concepts and practical experience with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • You have experience with web scraping tools and techniques (e.g., BeautifulSoup)
  • You have experience mentoring, coaching, or training others in a professional or educational setting.
  • Priority will be given to applicants with the Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) /Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), awarded by the Institute of Adult Learning Singapore.
  • This role is based in Singapore and you must be authorized to work in Singapore. Please ensure you have the right to work in Singapore before applying.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Teach 40 hours per week; currently classes on Monday through Thursday are on campus, with Fridays remote; we observe all public holidays in Singapore.
  • Commit a few hours per week preparing lessons and materials, leveraging existing GA curriculum content.
  • Work closely with co-instructors and/or teaching assistants to provide students with meaningful and prompt feedback on their progress, including assessment rubrics.
  • Work alongside GA staff and teaching team to best meet the needs and learning styles of your students.
  • Guide students through development of a stellar capstone project that will showcase their abilities to hiring managers.
  • Facilitate a dynamic, collaborative, and positive classroom community.
