The Trade Compliance Specialist will play a key role in overseeing trade operations and implementing a strategic approach to global growth within international regulatory frameworks. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to U.S. and international trade laws across products and operations. As the primary subject matter expert on trade compliance, you will be required to develop a deep understanding of the company's manufactured products and utilize this knowledge to make accurate tariff classification and valuation decisions. Additionally, you will support alternative sourcing strategies and implement risk-managed trade practices.Your responsibilities will include acting as the internal expert on global trade regulations, leading classification efforts for HTS and ECCN codes, determining the country of origin, and developing valuation strategies to enhance compliant and optimized trade operations. You will be responsible for interpreting tariff schedules to ensure compliance and identifying opportunities for duty savings. Collaboration with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams will be essential to assess trade risks and establish scalable and compliant processes. Effective communication of trade compliance strategies and risk insights to executive leadership will also be a key aspect of the role.The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Customs Compliance, or a related field, with a Master's degree or legal background being a plus. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in international trade compliance, preferably in a manufacturing, tech, or logistics-intensive environment, is required. In-depth knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations (including ITAR, EAR, and CBP regulations) and international customs laws is essential. Hands-on experience with HTS classification, ECCN, country of origin, and FTA eligibility is a must. Proven success in managing trade compliance strategy, documentation, and communications with regulatory bodies is also expected. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies are desired qualities.Certifications such as Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), or Certified Export Specialist (CES) are considered advantageous. Job Description

• Policy and Procedure Management: Oversee and maintain policies and procedures, including trade compliance, export control, and internal controls, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Internal Controls and Monitoring: Design and monitor internal compliance controls, conduct regular reviews, and provide recommendations for improvements to prevent policy violations and ensure effective risk management.
• Compliance Monitoring: Conduct regular and ad-hoc compliance reviews across business units, assess adherence to policies and regulations, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
• Export Control: Assign Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), ensure compliance with trade agreements and export regulations, and liaise with the group on trade compliance and export control matters to ensure global alignment.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed compliance reports, provide regular updates to management, and maintain accurate records of all compliance-related activities and findings.
• Risk Assessment: Collaborate with departments to assess compliance risks, identify emerging regulatory changes, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of compliance controls and procedures.
• Audit Support: Assist with statutory audits, regulatory inspections, and other external assessments to ensure compliance.
• Additional Duties: Perform any other official duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in risk, compliance, and internal controls.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and risk management principles.
• Experience in a multinational organization with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region is an advantage.
• Responsible, detail-oriented, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A collaborative team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of trade compliance systems, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.

As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT, and Operations to design and implement robust, governance-led compliance solutions.

• Lead on denied party screening, sanctions, and embargo compliance initiatives
• Conduct global regulatory research and analysis
• Develop automated screening processes and workflows
• Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure full regulatory alignment

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Business process analysis and regulatory impact assessment experience

• Familiarity with compliance, risk management, and automation tools

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in international trade, preferably in a managerial or senior role within the APAC region.

• Develop and implement comprehensive Trade Compliance programs in the APAC region.
• Manage customs and partner government agency authority relationships, including response to government inquiries and audits.
• Oversee import / export applications, registrations, and Customs rulings.
• Provide subject matter expertise in current import and export regulations and requirements, including classification, valuation, country of origin guidance.
• Evaluate risks to guide decisions, propose solutions, and drive improvements throughout the region.
• Conduct regular internal reviews and audits to measure compliance and assess possible risks and violations. Recommend and oversee corrective actions within business operations, programs, and practices.
• Collaborate with local cross-functional teams to align trade compliance initiatives with business objectives.
• Provide Trade compliance oversight and guidance to Intuitive teams responsible for operational execution of import / export activities.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal controls for APAC trade compliance.
• Evaluate and implement customs simplification applications to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of import and export operations.
• Deliver training and educational programs to APAC personnel on trade compliance requirements and best practices.

A strong analytical and organizational mindset, combined with excellent communication skills and a proven track record of driving results in complex environments, are essential for success in this role.

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in international trade, business administration, law, or a related field.
• At least 10+ years of international trade experience building and implementing Trade Compliance programs, with a significant portion of that experience in a managerial or senior role within the APAC region.
• Extensive knowledge of global trade compliance regulations, including import/export laws, customs regulations, and trade agreements specific to the APAC region.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing trade compliance programs.
• Experience interfacing directly with customs and partner government agency authorities, including responding to government inquiries and audits.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess compliance risks and identify improvement opportunities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in developing and delivering training programs related to trade compliance.

• Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist).
• Fluency in one or more local languages commonly used within the APAC region.
