Position Overview (In-House Legal Counsel with specialized expertise in Trusts Law)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced In-House Legal Counsel with specialized expertise in Trusts Law to join our Singapore office. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor for trust-related matters, supporting our high-net-worth clientele across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance, managing regulatory risks, and providing strategic counsel on complex trust structures and wealth management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Trust & Fiduciary Services (70-80% of role)
- Draft, review, and negotiate trust deeds, wills, powers of attorney, and other fiduciary documents
- Provide expert legal advice on trust establishment, administration, and termination
- Support complex trust restructuring and succession planning initiatives
- Advise on beneficiary rights, trustee duties, and fiduciary obligations
- Handle trust dispute resolution and litigation management when required
Multi-Jurisdictional Compliance
- Provide strategic compliance advice on trust structures governed by Singapore, Jersey, Hong Kong, BVI, and Cayman Islands laws
- Monitor and interpret legislative changes across key jurisdictions
- Ensure adherence to regulatory reporting requirements and anti-money laundering obligations
- Advise on tax implications and optimize trust structures for tax efficiency
Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary legal point of contact for internal stakeholders including business units, compliance teams, and relationship managers
- Liaise with external partners including regulators, legal advisors, and professional service providers
- Provide legal training and guidance to business teams on trust-related matters
- Support client meetings and presentations on complex legal structures
Corporate & Commercial Support
- Assist the Group General Counsel on corporate governance matters for the Singapore entity

- Contribute to legal risk management and internal policy development
- Participate in strategic planning and business expansion projects
Required Qualifications
Legal Credentials
- Qualified lawyer with valid practicing certificate from a Commonwealth jurisdiction (Singapore, UK, Australia, or New Zealand strongly preferred)
- 4-8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with substantial focus on trusts, private client law, or fiduciary services
- Admission to Singapore Bar or ability to obtain admission preferred
Professional Experience
- Prior experience at a reputable trust company, family office, or international law firm serving high-net-worth clients
- Demonstrated track record in trust structuring, estate planning, and wealth management
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional trust arrangements and cross-border regulatory compliance
- Background in handling complex family succession planning and dispute resolution preferred
Technical Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of Singapore, Jersey, Hong Kong, BVI, and Cayman trust frameworks
