We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive and business oriented Legal Counsel to join our worldwide employment legal team.
Based in Asia, this role will, in coordination with worldwide team leads and outside counsel as appropriate: (1) provide pragmatic legal advice to ensure company processes, policies and procedures are compliant with employment and labor laws where TI operates in the Asia-Pacific region and (2) manage Asia-Pacific based employee related disputes and government inquiries. This position will play a key role in supporting HR managers across Asia-Pacific, ensuring legal compliance and managing employment-related risk in a fast-paced manufacturing environment as well as resolving adverse matters and inquires effectively and efficiently. The candidate will be expected to effectively obtain and manage outside counsel expertise to cover employment law issues in multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions. This role also requires building and effectively maintaining knowledge databases for increased automation/digitization, chat bot and AI tool utilization. The legal counsel will work closely with the HR leadership (including Ethics Director) and law department leadership, and collaborate with external counsel on complex operational issues and disputes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret employment law developments across multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions; advise on Asia-Pacific legal requirements for global compliance programs and employment policy and process harmonization.
- Draft, review, and update employment-related documents, contracts and company policies, ensuring regional and global compliance
- Advise on Asia-Pacific legal requirements for hiring, onboarding, performance management, misconduct, and termination matters, including individual exits and large-scale reductions in force (RIFs).
- Work with local outside attorneys in Asia-Pacific countries to resolve adverse employee matters and respond to government inquiries regarding HR related practice and compliance
- Support engagement with existing employee representatives in applicable Asia-Pacific jurisdictions
- Advise on Asia-Pacific occupational health & safety obligations, shift work regulations, and working time laws applicable to manufacturing operations.
- Contribute legal support to M&A transactions, post-merger integrations, and global reorganizations involving any Asia-Pacific employees and entities.
- Support employment/labor-related disclosures and initiatives, aligning with global sustainability and compliance frameworks.
- Coordinate with privacy compliance owner on employee data protection matters and requirements in Asia-Pacific countries
- Review and support implementation of digital HR platforms and employee monitoring tools.
Minimum requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Law degree from a recognized institution and licensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
- Experience in employment law compliance and/or litigation, preferably with a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department of a multinational company.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law across Asia-Pacific (e.g., Singapore, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea), and familiarity with global labor law trends.
- Practical experience advising across multiple Asia/Pacific jurisdictions
- Comfortable working across time zones and cultures, with a collaborative and pragmatic approach. Ability and willingness to travel internationally, particularly across Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, semiconductor, or industrial operations preferred.
- Experience managing complex employee relations issues including investigations, terminations, misconduct, and compliance with company policies preferred
- Fluent in English; additional Asian language skills are helpful.

**Minimum requirements:**

• Manages all Contracts associated to the Company and its subsidiaries

• Ensure compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities

Job Requirement
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent, preferably with one or more years' experience in a commercial setting
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and legal procedures
• Possess sound judgement and have strong legal analytical, drafting and communication skills
• Close attention to details and the ability to work independently
• Ability to work cross-functionally, a good team player and effectively communicate complex issues to Management and business stakeholders
• Highly organized, experienced with managing numerous deals or projects simultaneously and able to adapt to shifting priorities
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity

About the team:The Legal team consists of Group General Counsel and a paralegal. This role will report to the Group General Counsel.
About the role:As a legal counsel at Goodnotes, your role will be to offer legal support in various corporate, commercial, and regulatory legal matters, including GDPR compliance support. This encompasses creating customised commercial contracts, examining and negotiating agreements with suppliers/customers, providing legal guidance to internal stakeholders, and establishing strong compliance governance policies for the organisation. The Legal Counsel should collaborate with the Group General Counsel to effectively delegate tasks among team members.
This is the role for you, if you’re excited to work on the things listed below:- Assisting with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements such as NDAs, IP licences, SaaS, reseller agreements, cloud services, and IT procurement agreements.
- Assisting in drafting or updating the terms and conditions and the privacy policy.
- Collaborating with the Group General Counsel for GDPR and AI policies.
- Providing regulatory training to stakeholders regularly.
- Collaborating across departments and actively engage in regulatory initiatives.
- Collaborating with the Group General Counsel to manage junior staff and ensure workload delegation.
- Working closely with the Group General Counsel to effectively manage budgeting and external counsel relationships.
- Working and liaising with external lawyers for the projects that have been outsourced.
- Providing precise legal guidance on issues that impact the organisation
- Working with third parties, including regulators, as needed.
- Offering legal expertise in regulatory compliance, data protection, intellectual property, employment law, and other relevant fields, and advising and counselling the company's key stakeholders on the legal implications of strategic decisions and business activities.
- Any other duties, functions or services consistent with the role of Legal Counsel, as determined by the Group General Counsel.
- Qualified to practise in Singapore
- Fluent in Mandarin (written, spoken, and reading)
- 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, with a background in in-house and private practice at a reputable law firm.
- Extensive knowledge in regulatory and compliance matters, e-commerce and AI regulations.
- Strong skills in commercial contracts, stakeholder management, communication and engagement.
- Understanding of EU regulatory laws, consumer protection laws, and GDPR.
- Ability to think outside the box and considers commercial and legal viewpoints when resolving issues.

Job Summary
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic legal partner across the organisation, with a primary focus on supporting the dynamic legal needs of a fast-paced retail supermarket business. This role involves delivering practical legal advice and risk mitigation strategies across a wide spectrum of areas, including commercial contracts, real estate, regulatory compliance, employment, consumer protection, marketing, intellectual property, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate is a proactive, business-minded professional with good commercial acumen and the ability to balance legal integrity with operational goals.
This role is based in Tampines .
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and conduct risk assessments on matters that may carry legal, regulatory, reputational, financial, or operational implications, ensuring the company’s interests are well protected.
- Draft, review, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements including supplier/vendor contracts, service agreements, logistics arrangements, IT licenses, and tenancy/lease agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., procurement, category management) to ensure contracts mitigate commercial risk while protecting business interests.
- Support business development initiatives with legal insights and risk analysis.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant local laws and regulations in the retail sector, including but not limited to the Sale of Goods Act, Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, Competition Act, Food Safety Regulations, and the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
- Develop and implement compliance frameworks, policies, and SOPs in collaboration with business units to support legally sound and ethical operations.
- Provide legal oversight on store leasing matters, including new site acquisitions, tenancy renewals, renovations, and lease terminations.
- Manage disputes and legal issues relating to property and tenancy.
- Advise quality assurance and commercial teams on consumer rights, food safety, labelling, product recalls, promotional mechanics, advertising claims, and customer complaints.
- Review marketing materials and promotional terms to ensure legal compliance, particularly with advertising and consumer protection laws.
- Provide legal support to HR on employment matters, including drafting employment contracts, advising on investigations, disciplinary actions, MOM queries, employee disputes, retrenchment exercises, and workplace safety.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks across all areas of operations while balancing legal safeguards with business needs.
- Manage and resolve disputes, liaising with external counsel on complex claims and litigation.
- Assist in crisis management efforts involving reputational, regulatory, or operational risks.
- Support compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., PDPA) and assist the DPO in data protection enforcement.
- Provide legal guidance on ESG initiatives such as responsible sourcing, sustainability disclosures, and ethical practices.
- Support internal audits and respond to regulatory inspections as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Admission to the Singapore Bar or an equivalent common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in in-house legal roles.
- Prior experience in the retail, FMCG, or supermarket industry is highly preferred.
- Good knowledge of Singapore contract law, employment law, privacy/data protection, tenancy law, and retail-related regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and legal analytical skills.
- High standards of integrity, sound judgment, and strong commercial awareness.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage external stakeholders.

About the role:
As a legal counsel at Goodnotes, your role will be to offer legal support in various corporate, commercial, and regulatory legal matters, including GDPR compliance support. This encompasses creating customised commercial contracts, examining and negotiating agreements with suppliers/customers, providing legal guidance to internal stakeholders, and establishing strong compliance governance policies for the organisation. The GC legal team is based at Dyson’s technology campuses in the UK and Singapore. We provide legal support in relation to Dyson’s global supply chain and manufacturing operations; helping to establish and maintain effective relationships with our suppliers and manage any associated legal risk. Our work involves advising on high-value and/or strategically important commercial agreements with suppliers and resolving contractual disputes.
Legal Counsel’s role:
Reporting into a Senior Legal Counsel within the team, Legal Counsel are responsible for:
- Being a subject matter expert in contract law (in England and / or Singapore) and contract interpretation, providing advice to internal stakeholders.
- Identifying, advising on, and mitigating legal risks; ensuring that legal risks are reported, approved, and recorded in accordance with Dyson’s Legal Risk Framework.
- Providing legal support to internal stakeholders on the drafting & negotiation of supplier-facing contracts, ensuring that: (a) stakeholders understand the terms of the contracts that they wish to enter into, and any material risks associated with those terms; (b) the contract terms are appropriate for their subject matter and align with Dyson’s business objectives and risk appetite; and (c) the contract terms satisfy Dyson’s Minimum Requirements for Supplier Contracts (or, if this is not possible, the implications of any deviations are highlighted to stakeholders).
- Providing legal advice on contractual arrangements, helping to ensure that the business understands its rights & obligations and extracts value from the terms that have been agreed, including by supporting the business to enforce contract terms against third parties.
- Reviewing existing contracts to identify risks posed by them & opportunities for improvements; and supporting internal stakeholders to amend contract terms where necessary.
- Managing any disputes that may arise with suppliers through to their resolution (with the support of external legal counsel where necessary), ensuring that Dyson leverages its legal and contractual position to obtain the best outcome for the business.
- Where necessary, coordinating with other teams across Dyson Legal to ensure that issues receive the right legal input and visibility, and the department delivers cohesive advice to the business.
